The latest season of Power Book II: Ghost left fans with a barrage of questions. Perhaps the biggest one is about what happened to Lauren Baldwin (Paige Hurd), Tariq St. Patrick’s classmate and girlfriend. Lauren was seemingly killed on the show for cooperating with police, but it’s been hard for people to believe because it happened off-screen. But now, some think they’ve found “proof” she really died.

The ‘proof’ that Lauren Baldwin is dead

Taking to Reddit, a user pointed out that Lauren got the customary R.I.P. post on the show’s official Instagram. “Proof Lauren is actually dead (for you people who actually think she still alive),” they captioned the post. “This from the official book 2 Instagram account.”

It’s true: whenever a Power character dies, Starz will make those kinds of posts as a farewell. Jabari Reynolds, Carrie Milgram, and Dante “Mecca” Spears have all received them, among others. Yet, some viewers still weren’t sold that Lauren is really dead.

“[This post] don’t mean sh**, walking dead did the same thing with glenn she’ll pop up next season with zeke,” one reader said in the Reddit comments, referring to AMC’s hit zombie series.

“They’d have shown her being shot in the head point blank, just like they did with every other character that’s ever died. They had no issue with showing Keisha’s dead body with a bullet in the head, they’d have shown the same for Lauren,” another stated.

One fan argued that the show might just be faking viewers out until next season, but another wrote that they were “in denial.” “Just like with Ghost all over again they don’t wanna accept she dead,” they added.

‘Power Book II: Ghost’ Season 3 to reveal answers

We should find out more about what exactly happened to Lauren next season. Show creator Courtney Kemp admitted such to Entertainment Weekly when asked for a teaser about what would happen next.

What I would say is, Effie and Brayden have a huge secret that they have to keep from Tariq,” she began. “Cane is also part of that secret, but it’s really about Effie and Brayden and what their relationship will be with Tariq, given whatever happened onscreen with Lauren. What has happened to Lauren, as you discover going forward, will have a seismic effect on the relationships of our three musketeers.”

“There will be fault lines drawn between Tariq and his friends, for various reasons,” she continued. “And then those will affect some fault lines that will be drawn within the Tejada family. There will be a series of earthquakes, and then a series of aftershocks that will shake the foundation and remake the series in a really sort of impactful way. That’s season 3.”
