Mecca (Daniel Sunjata) is standing at the center of Power Book II: Ghost Season 2 and nothing has ever been the same. Though the series centers on Tariq St. Patrick (Michael Rainey Jr.), drug queenpin Monet Tejada’s (Mary J. Blige) backstory is also coming into focus.

Now that Mecca and Monet have reconnected on Ghost. Will Mecca ruin Monet’s life?

‘Power Book II: Ghost’ revealed that Zeke is Monet and Mecca’s son

Before the second season of Ghost even aired, Starz hinted that Mecca was someone to watch. “He is calculated, manipulative, and dangerous,” Deadline reports. “Mecca conveniently reemerges in New York at the exact moment the Tejadas need to fill the void of a new product supplier. But when his mysterious past starts to become exposed, it reveals the drug business might not be his only end game with this family.”

However, fans could never have anticipated how much he was going to shake things up. In episode 2014 “Gettin’ These Ends” fans were stunned to learn that Mecca and Monet are actually, Zeke’s (Daniel Bellomy) biological parents. Prior to this revelation, Monet has always called herself Zeke’s auntie.

“Zeke is their son he was born in 1998 and Cane was born in 1999,” a Power Universe fan explained via Express. “Meaning she had Zeke before meeting Lorenzo also remember her telling Mecca ‘this ain’t my mom house can’t be knocking over trash cans.’”

Will Mecca ruin Monet’s life?

Though Sunjata has remained tight-lipped about Mecca’s motives since reentering Monet’s life, we do know that he’s back to shake some things up. “In brief, Mecca is introduced in the very first episode,” the actor told TV Fanatic. “His place is revealed as the episodes unfold, but I can say he comes in with an agenda. He’s pretty much willing to do anything that he has to do in order to produce the desired outcome and gets a little messy.”

In fact, the press release from Starz ahead of season 2 hinted at Monet’s life blowing up in her face. “Monet finds herself in bed with Mecca, a man who wants to show her a whole new world, potentially at the cost of destroying her old one, forcing Monet to lean on Tariq, who must decide what he really wants and what he’s going to sacrifice to get it,” the press release read via TV Line.

Monet is Mecca’s one weakness on ‘Power Book II: Ghost’

Monet is certainly intrigued by Mecca coming back into her life. After all, she’s grown weary of carrying the burden of her family on her back while her husband Lorenzo (Berto Colon) remains in jail. At this point, especially now that he knows the truth about Zeke, Monet seems content to allow Mecca to come storming into her life.

“Mecca is just head over heels over Nene — that’s what he calls her,” Blige tells TVLine. “Like, that’s his girl. He gets sloppy when it comes to her.” She added,  “He’s in love with Monet. Monet is like, ‘I remember. I like you still.’ But he’s in love with Monet.”

Unfortunately, if Lorenzo or even Cane (Woody McClain) gets wind of this rekindled romance, and the truth about Zeke, it will certainly be chaotic.
