Predictions for the Final Season of ‘Vikings’

The final season of Vikings will premiere this year, and fans are understandably excited at the possibilities it holds. There are still so many things that need to happen before the series truly ends. The show is beloved by millions that aren’t keen on seeing it come to an end. Thankfully, the final season is 20 episodes split up so it almost feels like there are two seasons upon us. Read on for predictions for the final season of Vikings. Spoilers are ahead, so continue only if you are caught up with the series.

Rollo will return

Clive Standen, who plays Rollo, confirmed to that his character would be around for a while in 2018. When he was asked if he would appear in season 6, he had a cryptic answer, “Well, like I said, expect the unexpected. Obviously with the real Vikings you’ll find out.” He also talked about the fate of Rollo and what really happened to the historical person. “Who knows but he’s not going anywhere quickly, he won’t get taken down in battle or anything like that.” He also added, “Rollo died from old age so who knows how far his tale will go with Vikings.”

Fans are pretty sure Standen will return, and it appears that social media may hold the answer. Standen posted on his Instagram account a picture of himself and Katheryn Winnick, who plays Lagertha. “This one’s always had my back! #Vikings,” he captioned the photo. It looks like he will be returning for the final season.

The ‘Vikings’ will continue raiding new lands

As was the Viking way, they will continue to raid and conquer lands in the new season. They may go to Russia, as others have predicted already based on images shared on the actors’ social media accounts. It would be very intriguing to see the Vikings explore even more cultures and different ways of life on the series.

Ivar the Boneless will change

Vikings creator Michael Hirst spoke to Variety about the upcoming season and how Ivar the Boneless (Alex Høgh Andersen) will ultimately change in unexpected ways. It sounds like fans will be in for some surprises from Ivar’s character.

“There have been some comments that Ivar is a little two-dimensional and that he hasn’t got any secrets left, or that he’s not as interesting as Ragnar was,” explained Hirst. “The fact is that we’re going to learn a lot more about Ivar in Season 6. We’re going to see other aspects of his character and things we didn’t expect from him. I’m very pleased with the way his character deepens and changes. He’s still Ivar and he’s still unpredictable…in many ways. But we do see these other aspects in him emerging.”

The Seer (John Kavanagh) prophesied the death of Lagertha at the hands of a son of Ragnar (Travis Fimmel), who was also her ex-husband and father to her son. Everything that the Seer has foreseen previously on the show has come to pass, including the fact that Lagertha would never have another child, and that a woman, Lagertha herself, would be the queen of Kattegat. A possible leaked image of the shieldmaiden and queen was posted to Reddit, apparently showing a Viking funeral for Lagertha. This means that she will meet her death in the final season.

The sixth season of Vikings will be an end to an era. Most of us aren’t looking forward to the conclusion of the story of Ragnar Lothbrok and his family. At least we have 20 more episodes to go until it’s truly over. The final season will premiere its first half sometime before the end of the year.
