Prince Andrew Reacts To Claim He’s Not Cooperating With Authorities

In Prince Andrew’s BBC Newsnight interview about his friendship with the late convicted pedophile Jeffrey Epstein, the prince did not come off as believable and showed no sympathy for Epstein’s alleged victims. The Duke of York did say that he would cooperate with law enforcement authorities in their investigation, however, the U.S. attorney recently claimed that he has not.

Here’s how Prince Andrew reportedly reacted to that claim, plus how his ex-wife Sarah, Duchess of York is involved with Epstein.

Statement from U.S. Attorney

On Jan. 27, 2020, U.S. Attorney Geoffrey Berman stated that law enforcement officials, including the FBI, have reached out to Andrew’s legal team in the hopes of interviewing him but have not received any cooperation.

“It’s fair for people to know whether Prince Andrew has followed through with that public commitment,” Berman said, before adding, “To date, Prince Andrew has provided zero cooperation.”

Prince Andrew’s response

Prince Andrew was reportedly “bewildered” by the prosecutor’s claims and said that is not the case.

“Nothing could be further from the truth,” a source close to the duke told The Express. “The Duke is more than happy to talk to the FBI but he hasn’t been approached by them yet.”

The source continued, “[Andrew] is angry about the way this is being portrayed and bewildered as to why this was said in New York. The duke is not under any obligation to talk to lawyers representing alleged victims of Epstein at the moment but he is totally willing to talk to any law enforcement agencies be they the police or FBI.”

The insider added that Queen Elizabeth II‘s son speaks to his lawyers regularly and “is committed to the legal process.”

Andrew’s ex, Sarah Ferguson, also has ties to Epstein

Andrew’s ex-wife also has her own ties to the felon.

After Ferguson and the prince divorced, she was in debt. Fergie owed her former personal assistant, Johnny O’Sullivan, more than $100,000 but did not have the means to pay for it. That’s when Epstein stepped in and the amount was lowered to just under $20,000.

At the time though Fergie claimed that Prince Andrew helped her take care of the debt but it was actually paid for by Epstein. In 2011, it was revealed that the duchess had direct contact with the sex offender herself about paying the debt off.

“I deeply regret Jeffrey Epstein became involved in any way with me,” Fergie said in a statement. “I abhor pedophilia and any sexual abuse of children and know that this was a gigantic error of judgment on my behalf. I am just so contrite I cannot say. Whenever I can I will repay the money and will have nothing ever to do with Jeffrey Epstein ever again. What he did was wrong and for which he was rightly jailed.”

There has not been any word if the FBI is interested in talking to Ferguson at all as part of their investigation.
