Would Prince Charles Ever Admit if He Didn’t Like One Of His Sons’ Wives?

Prince William and Prince Harry grew closer to Prince Charles once their mother, Princess Diana, passed away in 1997. Charles continued to raise his two sons with the help of other royal family members, and today, all three men have a good relationship. But what does Charles think of Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton — and would he ever tell his sons if he didn’t like their wives?

William and Harry lost their mother at a young age

Charles’ sons didn’t have an easy upbringing. Being a royal is difficult in its own right, since there is a constant spotlight on the royals at all times. But when William and Harry lost their mother, things only got more difficult. They already been through their parents’ tough divorce, and they were barely teenagers when Diana died tragically in a car accident. Today, some blame her death on the media, suggesting they were bombarding the princess. However, the Diana’s driver, Henri Paul, was found to be under the influence of drugs and alcohol at the time of the crash.

Kate fits the mold of a royal, but Meghan is a bit more unconventional

The royals tend to only marry people who are very high-society. Kate Middleton came from a wealthy family, attended school with William, and had never been married before she met the prince. She’s what some might call a “typical” royal. Meghan, on the other hand, is a bit more unconventional. She’s been divorced once and grew up in the United States. Her parents are also divorced. Meghan is biracial, which isn’t common in the royal family. While she might not fit the exact royal mold, she has taken greatly to her role.

Charles knows firsthand not to mess with true love — and would likely never reveal if he didn’t like a son’s wife

If there is anyone who knows not to get in the way of true love, it’s Charles. He fell in love with Camilla Parker Bowles long before he met Diana, but rumor has it there were many people around him (including Queen Elizabeth) who didn’t want to see him marry Camilla. However, Charles was always in love with her, and their affair continued long after his marriage to Diana. When the affair leaked, it ended up causing his divorce and being an embarrassment to the entire royal family.

Whether Charles likes Kate and Meghan or not, he knows better than to come between his sons and the women they love. It happened to him, and though it worked out for him and Camilla in the end, it was a long road to get there. He wouldn’t put his children through the same thing.

Charles appears to have a good relationship with both Meghan and Kate

While Charles wouldn’t say anything if he didn’t like Meghan and Kate, he appears to actually get along well with both of them. After everything he put his sons through, plus what they went through with their mother’s death, he is likely just happy to see them happy. Charles has been spotted talking and laughing with both duchesses, and it’s safe to say he approves of both of them.
