Prince Charles’ Insiders Say Rumors of a Rift Between William and Harry Are ‘Wholly Untrue’

Royal insiders close to Prince Charles are shutting down the rumors that there is a huge rift between Prince Harry and Prince William. In the new biography Finding Freedom, the book’s author Omid Scobie says that the brothers haven’t spoken for months. However, sources close to the Prince of Wales claim that the rift rumors are “wholly untrue.”

‘Finding Freedom’ author claims William and Harry’s relationship is severely strained

As reported by The Sun, Scobie recently sat down for an interview with True Royalty TV. He claims that William and Harry haven’t spoken since they met with Queen Elizabeth at Sandringham back in January.

Queen Elizabeth, Prince Charles, and Prince William met with Prince Harry to work out the details of Harry and Meghan Markle’s departure after their bombshell announcement.

Scobie says that Harry and William’s estrangement is the result of the Sussexes publicly announcing their “road map to their new working model” without consulting the family.

Scobie explained that the “hurt continues to this day,” and the distance between the two brothers grew wider after the Sandringham Summit.

“The statements weren’t discussed internally. That’s really what caused the most amount of hurt to William, because he wears two hats,” explained Scobie. “He’s not just the brother, he’s also future king — and he felt that damaged the reputation of the family.”

Does Prince Charles value public image over everything else?

Scobie – who co-authored Finding Freedom with Carolyn Durand – also claims that Prince Charles quietly supported Meghan’s lawsuit against Associated Newspapers Limited. The Duchess of Sussex sued the Mail on Sunday because they published a private handwritten letter she wrote to her dad, Thomas Markle, in 2018.

According to the Mirror, Meghan is accusing the British newspaper of breach of privacy and copyright. Scobie claims in his book that Prince Charles supported Harry and Meghan’s decision to sue. But, he refused to support them publicly.

“What is interesting and I found time and time again, his sympathy for the couple was often there [but] he was almost too afraid to voice it or take it any further,” said Scobie.

In Finding Freedom, Scobie wrote that Prince Charles is “extremely focused on his public image.”

He also claimed that there have been times when Harry has felt this has taken precedence over everything else.

Royal insiders dispute claims of a rift between William and Harry

Harry and Meghan issued a statement that claimed they did not contribute to Finding Freedom. However, they didn’t make any attempt to dispute any claims made in the book. On the other hand, insiders close to Prince Charles say the book is full of “complete nonsense.”

The claim that the Prince of Wales values public image over anything else is “wholly untrue,” insists the sources. One added that the book is “incredibly one sided for various gripes from Harry and Meghan.”

The insider explained that any claims of a breakdown in the relationship between Harry and Charles are “entirely false.” The source also noted that Prince Charles has not supported any of their various legal cases.

Omid Scobie also claims that the official photo from Prince Charles’s 70th birthday party was a “nightmare.”

The pic featured three generations of the family, but Scobie claimed the event was filled with tension.

Sources have also disputed that story, describing it as “poppycock.”
