Inside Prince Charles’s Relationship With Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis
He might live in palaces and lead a life of luxury but, in many ways, Prince Charles leads a normal lifestyle at home — especially when it comes to his relationship with his grandkids. While some might argue he wasn’t the world’s greatest father, Prince Charles was made to be a grandfather.
Up ahead, we take a closer look at what Prince Charles is like as a grandfather.
Prince Charles’s relationship with Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis
Prince Charles might be the future King of England but, to Prince George, Princess Charlotte, Prince Louis, and (soon-to-be) Baby Sussex, he is “Grandpa Wales.” But while he might make an effort with his grandkids, it hasn’t always been easy for Prince Charles. Find out why, below.
He once thought he was being cut out of Prince George’s life
It’s no secret that Prince Charles is a sensitive guy. So, you can imagine how hurt he was when he thought he was being cut out of Prince George’s life. Prince Charles hasn’t always had the best relationship with his sons, and some reports claim that in the early stages of Prince George’s life, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge kept their distance from the Prince of Wales.
Prince George allegedly spent much more time with Kate Middleton’s parents, which upset Prince Charles and made him feel left out from his first grandchild’s life. Since then, he has allegedly felt jealous of Michael and Carole Middleton and their close relationship with the Princes and Princess of Cambridge.
He wants to encourage his grandchildren to try new things
Prince Charles has a lot of appreciation for his late grandmother, whom he was very close with. And, he recognizes the importance of grandparents. “It’s a different part of your life. The great thing is to encourage them. Show them things that take their interest. My grandmother did that, she was wonderful,” he once explained. “It is very important to create a bond when they are very young,” he added.
His grandkids are the light of his life
Nothing makes Prince Charles happier than being with his grandbabies. According to People, the Prince of Wales completely “comes alive” when in the presence of Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis. “Charles and Camilla absolutely adore being grandparents and are enthralled with Charlotte and George. Charles is a warm and caring guy, but he comes even more alive around little George. He loves spending time with him,” a source revealed.
He turned his garden into a playground
Prince Charles proved he is the ultimate grandpa when he turned part of his beloved garden into a playground for Prince George when the young royal was only two-years-old. The two have allegedly shared picnics in the play area together.
Now that he is older, Prince George (and his sister, Princess Charlotte) like to hunt for spiders in the garden at Kensington Palace. And, they might even practice their spider-hunting skills at Grandpa Wales’s house, too.
