Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Have Not Endorsed Omid Scoobie’s Tell-All Biography, ‘Finding Freedom’
There’s been a lot of buzz in the royal fan community as more details of Prince Harry and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex’s tell-all book leak. So far we know the book’s release date — Aug. 11 — plus the title and authors. But beyond that, many pertinent details are unclear.
Perhaps the biggest mystery of all is whether this is an authorized biography with first-person interviews with Meghan and Harry, or if it’s just more speculation based on hearsay. The book will be groundbreaking if it includes the personal opinions of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. But if not? The hype might be a little overblown.
Everything we know about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s book
Omid Scoobie is a well-known British journalist who’s had the inside scoop on the royal family, especially the Sussexes, for years. He recently admitted how good it feels to finally be able to talk about this huge project that he’s been, “beavering away at quietly for two years,” Daily Mail reported.
The full title of the book is Finding Freedom: Harry and Meghan and the Making of a Modern Royal Family. Scoobie co-authored it with fellow journalist Carolyn Durand. It’s being released by Harper Collins and is currently available for preorder.
The writers claim to tell the real story of Meghan and Harry
According to the book’s description page, the biography will reveal the “true story” of Prince Harry and Meghan’s meteoric rise and their shocking departure from the royal family. Rumor has it the book’s publication had to be delayed after the couple’s change of course in January so more content could be added.
The synopsis says, “Finding Freedom goes beyond the headlines to reveal unknown details of Harry and Meghan’s life together, dispelling the many rumors and misconceptions that plague the couple on both sides of the pond.”
Did Prince Harry and Meghan Markle endorse the book?
Though this tell-all will no doubt provide fascinating commentary about the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, it’s very unlikely that they will endorse the book or that they were involved in its creation. The book’s description says the authors were given “unique access” and that it was “written with the participation of those closest to the couple.”
Logically, if this were an authorized biography, they’d no doubt be advertising it as such.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will tell their story somehow
Even if it’s not with this book, there’s a good chance Harry and Meghan will eventually tell their side of the story in an interview, a documentary, or a book. Now that they’re no longer working as “senior” royals, the couple no longer requires the queen’s permission to participate in that sort of project.
Plus, they’ve been passionate about removing the stigma from mental health concerns and speak freely about emotions, which is part of what led to that revealing ITV interview Meghan granted in 2019.
There’s also a small chance that Harry and Meghan did give Finding Freedom their blessing. It wouldn’t be the first time they surprised us.
