Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Might Not Have Another Baby
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have only been married for a little more than a year, but they’ve already welcomed their first child. Their son, Archie Harrison, was born in May, and since then, Meghan has decided to lay low rather than rushing back to her royal duties. Everyone expects the couple to announce another pregnancy sometime soon, but Harry just hinted that a second baby isn’t guaranteed.
Meghan and Harry didn’t waste time starting a family
When the duke and duchess first announced their engagement, the public couldn’t help but wonder if kids were already on their minds. Those close to the couple said they wanted to start a family right away and wouldn’t wait long after the wedding to announce a pregnancy. And believe it or not, the rumors were true. Harry and Meghan wed in May 2018, and by October 2018, the two had announced they’d welcome a baby in the spring. This meant the two were only married about three months before they got pregnant. Meghan and Harry welcomed Archie Harrison in May 2019.
Originally, they said they wanted many children
When Harry and Meghan first started talking about children, they had plenty of kids on their minds. The two once spent the day at a tech convention, where they were introduced to baby products. Meghan joked that the couple would need a whole bunch of the products, suggesting they wanted many kids. People took that to mean the two would have at least three or possibly even four (Harry once said to a fan that five was too many). Since the two got pregnant so quickly, it’s feasible that they could have a few more children over the next two or three years.
Harry recently revealed they want two children ‘maximum’
Despite originally thinking the couple would have at least three kids, Harry recently made their number of children a bit clearer. In the September issue of British Vogue, which Meghan Markle guest edited, Harry had a conversation with Dr. Jane Goodall about preserving the world for the generations to come. According to People, the two started talking about the next generation, and Harry said he wanted to make the state of the world better for his own children. Dr. Goodall joked that he shouldn’t have “too many” children, to which he replied, “Two, maximum!” Harry essentially made it clear that he and Meghan won’t necessarily have a second child. Two is how many kids they’ll have at the most, but they might decide they are happy with only one. Or, Meghan might have a difficult time getting pregnant — anything can happen.
If they do have another, an announcement will likely come soon
Harry and Meghan might want another, and if they do, we will probably hear about it sooner rather than later. While Meghan is more than able to get pregnant, she is over 35, and statistically, women have more trouble getting pregnant once they pass that age. Meghan will be 38 on August 4, so she and Harry may want to try for another child sooner rather than later to have the best chance of having another. It wouldn’t surprise us if the two made another pregnancy announcement by the end of the year, but some experts suggest she might want to wait a bit longer.
