Prince Harry And Meghan Markle Moving To L.A.? Royal Insiders On Their Plans For A Home Close To Doria

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry might be on the move. It has only been a few months since the Duke and Duchess of Sussex settled into their new home, Frogmore Cottage, and royal experts now believe they might purchase a house in Los Angeles to be closer to Markle’s mother, Doria Ragland.

Are Prince Harry and Meghan Markle moving to L.A.?

Royal expert Emily Andrews believes Harry and Markle will purchase a second home in L.A. Andrews says that the couple is interested in being closer to Ragland and that L.A. is one of the places they would love to spend their summers.

This also aligns with Prince Harry’s new project with Oprah Winfrey. The two are gearing up to produce a new show that raises awareness about mental health. According to The Sun, Harry will be spending a lot of time in the United States to work on the new project, so a move to L.A. makes sense.

“This project with Oprah, whilst it’s not going to be the first initiative of Sussex Royal, is a big push they are doing in the America market to try and attract donors for their new foundation,” Andrews explained. “I think they’ll probably buy somewhere in America – of course, Doria lives in LA.”

Andrews added that Ragland and Markle share a close bond and it is not surprising that the former actress wants to be closer to her mother. Ragland attended Markle and Harry’s wedding last year and was there for Archie’s birth in May. Ragland spent a few weeks with Markle after the delivery and has already played an important part in Archie’s life.

If Meghan Markle and Prince Harry move to L.A., Ragland would likely stay in the area so that she can spend time with the family whenever they visit. This would enable her to be a hands-on grandmother without having to sacrifice the most important elements of her life.

Harry and Markle move to Frogmore

Harry and Markle spent last year living inside Kensington Palace, not too far from Prince William and Kate Middleton. The Sussexes moved to their newly renovated Frogmore Cottage back in April.

The move happened about a month before Meghan Markle gave birth to Archie. The renovations made headlines after it cost taxpayers over $2 million, though the actual bill could be closer to $3 million once everything is finished.

Queen Elizabeth gifted Frogmore Cottage, which needed significant renovations to make livable. This includes new heating systems, utility, and electrical work. The renovations angered a lot of British citizens in the area, mainly because it cost a lot more than originally estimated. The extra costs were due to a renovated kitchen, bathroom, and added wardrobes.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have not commented on the renovations, though they will likely receive even more backlash if they decided to purchase a second home in the United States. If they move to the United States, it is unclear if Ragland will move in with them or stay in her own house.

Could Ragland move to Windsor?

While it sounds like Harry and Markle are headed to L.A., there are also rumors that Ragland is thinking about moving to the U.K. Insiders claim that Ragland wants to be closer to Markle and is considering moving across the pond to make that happen.

Ragland currently teaches yoga in L.A. and has already made several appearances in the U.K. since Markle started dating Harry. This includes a cameo at the couple’s wedding and an appearance with Meghan Markle to promote her cookbook fundraiser for the victims of the Grenfell Tower fire last year.

Unlike other members of Meghan Markle’s family, Ragland also flew out of the country to witness Archie’s birth last May. Ragland stayed by Markle in the weeks following the birth and reportedly was a huge help to her daughter.

Ragland, who has since returned to L.A., has not commented about moving to the U.K., though it would be a difficult move considering how her entire life is still in the United States. Harry and Markle re-locating to L.A., however, would solve that issue as Ragland would not have to leave her old life behind.

The royal family has not made any announcements about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s plan to move to L.A. The couple is currently gearing up for a trip to Africa, which will take place in the fall.
