Prince Harry and Meghan Markle ‘Will Not Be Welcomed’ in the UK: Critic Claims ‘They Have Damaged Themselves Badly’

There have been conflicting reports about whether Prince Harry and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex will return to their royal duties in the future. Queen Elizabeth was firm in finalizing the details of the Sussexes’ exit, but she did leave the door open for their return. One royal critic believes that, even if Prince Harry and Meghan wanted to return, they wouldn’t be welcomed in the UK again.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle shared their plans to step back

In January, Prince Harry and Meghan announced that they hoped to step back from their royal duties and split their time between North America and the UK.

Queen Elizabeth provided her support, but ultimately the Sussexes were unable to realize their half-in/half-out plan and instead had to exit their royal duties completely.

“Harry, Meghan and Archie will always be much loved members of my family,” the queen’s statement noted, in part. “I recognise the challenges they have experienced as a result of intense scrutiny over the last two years and support their wish for a more independent life.”

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle can return when they want

Prince Harry and Meghan may have made their official exit, but that doesn’t mean the palace door shut behind them forever.

In the biography Finding Freedom, authors Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand discuss how, if the Sussexes want to return, they will be able to do so.

An excerpt from the book, published by The Sunday Times, explains how the queen invited Harry to lunch at Windsor Castle, where she told him that he and Meghan could return when they wanted.

“As they tucked into a roast lunch, the queen made it clear to Harry that she would always support him in whatever he decided to do,” the authors write. “Though a 12-month trial period had already been promised to Harry earlier in the year, their conversation was also a reminder that should he and Meghan ever want to return to their roles, they were always welcome.”

“It’s been made very clear they can come back whenever they want, when they’re ready,” a source shared with the book’s authors.

One expert doesn’t think Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will be welcome in the UK

One of the couple’s critics, Lady Colin Campbell, thinks that Prince Harry and Meghan won’t be welcomed in the UK after their exit drama.

“I have said all along, and I still say, I am rooting for Meghan,” Campbell told Fox News. “Because I still see where, because of her natural gifts, if she gets her act together, she could still do so much good for people all over the world.”

She continued, “I try not to show them at their worst, and I also try to show what their possibilities were and could be. I think they have damaged themselves very badly. I think there will be a very difficult way forward, no matter what the way is.”

“I think if they try to come back to this country, they will not be welcomed,” Campbell added. “I think there is a distinct possibility if they don’t make their great fortune that they were hoping to make in Hollywood, they’re going to have to move on somewhere else.”

She added, “I don’t know what they’re going to do. I suspect they don’t know what they’re going to do.”
