Prince Harry’s Body Language Proves He’s Become ‘Uncomfortable’ Since Moving to the U.S.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle surprised the public when they announced their intention to step down as senior members of the royal family back in January. Since then, the two have left the family altogether, opting for a more private life in the United States. But it appears the prince has only become even more “uncomfortable” in his life since settling down somewhere new.

Prince Harry recently seemed ‘uncomfortable’ and ‘tense’ during an interview

Harry and Meghan recently appeared on camera with Time 100 in a September interview. The two discussed the importance of voting, but body language expert Judi James told Daily Mail that Harry seemed “tense” and “uncomfortable” during the engagement. The prince appeared “aware of the fallout” that could come with discussing voting, which is something the royals have always been prohibited from doing.

James also said that the prince used “distraction rituals” while speaking and added that Harry has less space on the bench, suggesting that Meghan is sitting in the position of power during the speech.

Meghan appears entirely in control of her husband, expert says

Harry and Meghan’s Time 100 interview isn’t the first time Meghan has appeared to be the dominating figure in the couple’s marriage. James gave similar commentary after Meghan and Harry were first spotted out together in Los Angeles.

“She’s the one in the lead as they pick out the homes to visit, clutching the address and often walking ahead,” James told Daily Mail. It is largely believed that it was Meghan’s idea to leave the family, but Harry once insisted he was the one who decided the two should step down. Now that they’re in LA, it seems Meghan is taking the lead in the couple’s decision making.

Harry appeared ‘awkward’ alongside his wife in a July 2020 interview

The former working royals have appeared on camera several times since stepping down, including back in July, when Harry appeared “awkward” while beside Meghan. James once again provided commentary, this time to The Scottish Sun, about Harry and Meghan’s body language during a July video call.

“His body language in this video link-up looks rather awkward, especially next to his wife,” James said. “While she speaks, Harry’s eye movements suggest he has a lot of thoughts running through his head, making him appear distracted… Looking down is usually a cut-off gesture that suggests a lack of confidence or a desire to hide momentarily.”

Harry has always wanted to be out of the spotlight

Though James seems to think Meghan is taking over the couple’s image, this might be exactly what Harry wants. Since he was young, Harry dreamt of a life outside of the spotlight. Allowing Meghan to take the reins while still remaining an activist in his own right might be the image Harry had hoped to create for himself when the two stepped down. Harry was the more prominent figure when the two were in the royal family, but now that they’re in Meghan’s home country, it might work best for them that Meghan has a bit more “power” when it comes to the couple’s image.
