Meghan Markle is just a few weeks away from giving birth to her first child, Baby Sussex and there is no one more excited then her hubby, Prince Harry. The red-headed prince has been sharing his joy and excitement about his “little bump” since the royal couple announced the pregnancy in Oct. 2018. Now that the finish line is near, Prince Harry may be looking to get Meghan Markle something extra special to celebrate Baby Sussex’s birth.

What is a push present?

Like gender reveal parties –push presents are a relatively modern phenomenon. However, the royals aren’t strangers to push presents. In fact, royal etiquette expert Myka Meier told The Sun that push presents have — “become a tradition in the royal family.” Meier explained, “Traditionally the push present, or gift given to celebrate the birth of a child, would be given bedside on the day of the birth from the father to the mother.”

Essentially push presents are a lovely gift from a father or partner to the mother “to thank her for her sacrifice, to show appreciation for the labor, and congratulations for the baby’s arrival.”

Will Prince Harry buy Meghan Markle a push present when she gives birth to Baby Sussex?

Since Prince Harry is a doting husband who clearly adores his wife, we absolutely think he will be purchasing Markle a push present. Meier told The Sun that she expects the gift will be a piece of jewelry. She said,

I think Prince Harry will get Meghan a custom piece of jewelry, perhaps with the date of the birth or initials of the new royal baby to make it extra special. From the beginning of their relationship, they have used jewelry to keep close, with the duo wearing matching bracelets while Meghan was in Toronto and Prince Harry was in London. I believe Prince Harry will give a piece of keepsake jewelry that will publicly be worn the week of the birth. I think it will be gold, the Duchess’ favourite metal for jewellery, and likely a necklace or bracelet.

What was Prince Harry’s wedding gift to Meghan Markle?

When Prince Harry and Meghan Markle tied the knot in May 2018 –the prince gave his wife a stunning wedding present that was close to his heart. The Duke of Sussex’s gifted his new bridge a stunning (and massive) aquamarine ring from his late mother, Princess Diana’s collection.

Markle wore the emerald-cut aquamarine that is surrounded by small solitaire diamonds and set in 24-carat yellow-gold to their wedding reception. She wore it again just after announcing her pregnancy when she met King Tupou VI and Queen Nanasipauʻu in Tonga.

Prince Charles gave Meghan Markle an expensive gift

Before Prince Harry and Meghan Markle tied the knot in May 2018 –the Prince of Wales pulled the former actress to the side and gifted her with a beautiful diamond tennis bracelet. The Duchess of Sussex first wore the bracelet the eve before her wedding. She wore it again the following week in celebration of Prince Charles’ 70th birthday, and again when she and Prince Harry arrived in Suva, Fiji while on their 16-day royal tour just after announcing her pregnancy.

Since Prince Charles adores his new daughter-in-law, she might get a second push present from him.
