Prince Harry Was Chased Down The Street By A Royal Fan
Prince Harry is enjoying his much-deserved time off away from the spotlight. Since mid-November 2019 — the prince and his wife, Duchess Meghan Markle have been indulging in some time away from their royal duties. It’s been a whirlwind year for the royal couple who have celebrated the birth of their first child, Archie Harrison, and their first wedding anniversary.
Unfortunately, the added pressure of being in the media and the British press’ racist and sexist disdain for Markle has made things increasingly challenging for the pair. Things have gotten so bad that the prince is suing several tabloid publications for their harassment of Markle. Likewise, rumors have swirled that Markle and the prince are considering stepping away from the royal family altogether.
A past incident involving the prince being chased down the street proves just how obsessive fans can get about the royal family and why their safety should be a concern.
The British public and press have turned against Prince Harry and Meghan Markle
Though they were vulnerable and transparent about the hardships they’ve been suffering in the wake of their marriage — the British public and press don’t seem very sympathetic toward the duke and duchess. As a result, the pair has retreated from the spotlight to restrategize.
“Their popularity has suffered,” royal author Phil Dampier explained to Sun on Sunday. “The public don’t like being lectured on climate change by a couple who take private jets or being told they can’t see Archie’s christening when they’ve paid for Frogmore Cottage to be renovated.”
Prince Harry was once chased down the street by a royal fan
Three years ago, while he was secretly dating Meghan Markle — Prince Harry was chased down the street by an overzealous fan. On the podcast Royally Obsessed — royal commentator Kaitlin Menza read a letter from the fan.
“We were taking the photo when three Land Rovers drove slowly down the street towards the Palace,” the letter read. “Of course they slowed down for the speed bump and I silently laughed hoping it would be a royal. Much to my surprise the second car had a very famous red-headed driver. My jaw drops and I just pointed as my mum and aunt stood cluelessly to what I had seen. After gathering myself I was finally able to vocalise that Prince Harry had just driven by. We also started chasing the motorcade down the street as they started to pull into the palace. I’m sure we alerted security but it made for the perfect end to our trip.”
Though this was innocent, things like this have to be terrifying for the royals.
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry might be more reserved when they return from their hiatus
Though the duke and duchess have been very open — especially in their ITV documentary Harry and Meghan: An African Journey, that might all change when they return from their hiatus.
Buckingham Palace and the Cambridges — Prince William and Duchess Kate Middleton had previously warned the Sussexes about letting the press and public in. Now that Prince Andrew has been ousted — Markle and Prince Harry may choose to do royal life the more traditional way.
