Why Prince Harry is the ‘Driving Force’ Behind the Couple’s Reported Move to the United States
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have already made some massive decisions in 2020, and we’re hardly a month into it. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex recently parted ways with the royal family, and they’ve been finding their new way in North America ever since.
Harry and Meghan originally settled into Vancouver, British Columbia, but now, there have been reports that they will relocate to Los Angeles. And it seems Harry is the driving force behind the couple’s move — here’s why.
Harry and Meghan are adjusting to their new lives
The world was shocked when Harry and Meghan announced in early January that they planned to “step back” from their royal lives. As the details were worked out, it became evident that the two would not be able to continue their royal duties without public funding, and they ultimately left the royal family (from a professional standpoint) entirely.
Now, Harry and Meghan are living in Vancouver and hoping for a much more private life. The two seem relieved to be away from the fanfare of the royal family, though there is certainly a lot of adjusting that still needs to be done.
The two currently live very far from both families
Though they seemed to find a love for Vancouver on their six-week holiday break late last year, it certainly isn’t a stone’s throw from either of their families. Meghan might be on the same coast as her mother, but the two will still need to take a flight to see Doria any time they want to spend time with her. And, obviously, Harry is very far away from the royals.
Meghan was recently seen hiking in Canada along with Archie and her pups, and though she was all smiles, it would make sense if the two weren’t sure about calling Canada their permanent home because of the distance from relatives.
Harry reportedly wants Archie to develop a close relationship with Meghan’s mother
There have been rumors circling that the two will soon be making a permanent move to Los Angeles. Right now, this hasn’t been confirmed by either Sussex, but it makes sense that they’d want to move closer to Meghan’s mother, Doria. Meghan and Doria have always been close, and as Archie grows, Meghan likely wants him to have a strong relationship with his grandmother.
Royal sources suggest that Meghan, however, is not the one pushing this decision; it’s actually Harry. “… The couple both want Doria to have a close relationship with Archie. Interestingly, it seems to be Harry who is the driving force behind plans,” a source revealed of the couple’s apparent move, suggesting that Harry cares deeply about Archie’s relationship with his grandparents.
The couple’s future seems up in the air
Right now, nothing is set in stone for Harry and Meghan. They seem to love Vancouver, but it makes sense that it might not work for them. A move to Los Angeles would bring them much closer to Meghan’s mother, but in contrast, the royal family reportedly has a plan in place, should Harry and Meghan want to return to the United Kingdom. None of the moving rumors have been confirmed, so time will tell what Harry and Meghan decide to do.
