Prince Harry Drove Meghan Markle to Her Event This Morning For 1 Important Reason
There might be a ton of drama and buzz surrounding them and their recent ITV documentary, Harry And Meghan: An African Journey — but Duchess Meghan Markle and Prince Harry aren’t letting that stop them. The royal couple is scheduled to take some much needed time off around Thanksgiving to spend time with Markle’s mother, Doria Ragland, in the United States. But until then they both have very full schedules.
With the outcry surrounding the documentary, and Prince Harry’s pending lawsuits against several media companies that he’s suing for the misuse of private information, infringement of copyright, and breach of the Data Protection Act 2018, it would be easy for them to retreat into the background. However, the Sussexes have chosen to do the opposite.
Prince Harry drove Meghan Markle to her event this morning
This morning (the U.K. is five hours ahead of the United States’ East Coast) the Markle and Prince Harry shocked everyone when they rolled up to the duchess’ event. Not only was the prince not scheduled to make an appearance with his wife, but he was also in the driver’s seat of their car.
Markle’s event was a roundtable discussion on gender equality with The Queen’s Commonwealth Trust and One Young World. As we know, since well before her royal days, the duchess has been a major advocate of women’s rights and gender equality. For his part, Prince Harry is also a self-proclaimed feminist.
The prince came along to lend his voice to the event and to support his wife who has been having a rough time in the spotlight. Royal reporter Rebecca English reported that Markle said, the gender equality conversation “can’t happen without men being a part of it.”
Why has Meghan Markle had such a tough time in the public eye?
Becoming a member of the British Royal Family has not been easy for Markle. The U.S. born actress has been thrust into the spotlight and as a woman of color, the bullying, racism, trolling and sexism has been relentless. In Harry And Meghan: An African Journey, Markle candidly told ITV’s Tom Bradby,
Any woman, especially when they’re pregnant, you’re really vulnerable, and so that was made really challenging. And then when you have a newborn, you know…it’s a lot. So you add this on top of just trying to be a new mom or trying to be a newlywed. It’s, um, yeah….Also, thank you for asking because not many people have asked if I’m okay, but it’s a very real thing to be going through behind the scenes.
Prince Harry’s number one priority is protecting his family
Going against tradition and advice from his team–Prince Harry is proving that he’s going to do whatever it takes to protect Meghan Markle and their son, Archie Harrison. Along with being by his wife’s side whenever he can — the prince is not backing down. He told Bradby,
Everything that she went through and what happened to her is incredibly raw every single day, and that is not being me being paranoid. That’s just me not wanting a repeat of the past. If anybody else knew what I knew, be it a father or be it a husband, be it anyone. You would probably be doing exactly what I am doing as well.
It will be interesting to see how this all pans out.
