Did Prince Harry hate being single before meeting Meghan Markle?
Though he always appeared to be upbeat and joyful, Prince Harry was actually extremely lonely before he met Meghan Markle in 2016. Initially, when his older brother, Prince William married Duchess Kate Middleton in 2011, the trio was like the three musketeers. However, after the duchess gave birth to Prince George in 2013–Prince Harry was increasingly alone. According to royal expert Katie Nicholl who authored the book, Harry: Life, Loss, and Love, “Harry felt detached, lonely, and rudderless, and according to a friend he dreaded Sunday nights. He’d say ‘William’s got so boring,’ when in fact William was living the life I think Harry wanted for himself. I think he was worried he was going to be left on the shelf.”
Prince Harry envied Prince William and Kate Middleton’s relationship
With another relationship ruined because of his royal status –Prince Harry was becoming bitter especially because he could see how well his sister-in-law was handling everything. According to Nicholl,

Can Meghan Markle handle the spotlight?
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were set up on a blind date in the summer of 2016 by a mutual friend, and neither the prince nor the duchess had any expectations going in. However, Prince Harry later revealed that he knew Markle was the one, “the very first time we met.”
Though the Los Angeles native was used to a certain amount of notoriety, even she was not prepared for the onslaught of attention that came with being attached to the prince.
