Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s Brand Is Going to Be Disruptive, Says Expert

The entire world is currently reeling from the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. People are getting sick, being hospitalized, and passing away at unprecedented rates. The medical community across the globe has been unable to keep up. Though the beginning of 2020 looked promising for many, it’s halted plans, brought various industries to their knees, and caused people across the globe to reevaluate.

For Prince Harry and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex they’ve taken a major step back when it comes to rebranding themselves after leaving the British royal family. The pair have left Canada for their new permanent home in Los Angeles, California. Though they initially hoped to be back to work immediately, that isn’t going to be the case.

However, when the pair do launch their new brand, one expert claims that it will be very disruptive.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle won’t be back to work for some time

Like many of us, the Sussexes are spending their time in quarantine and social distancing to bond with one another. After a whirlwind few years under the scrutiny of the royal stage, the pair are taking a massive break from work and the spotlight.

“It is interesting because we had such a build-up since January to the departure of Meghan and Harry stepping back as senior working royals,” royal expert Omar Scobie said on his podcast The Heir Pod. “Suddenly on March 31 it sort of crept up on us really quickly, we had the couple announcing the beginning of their transition period over the next year on Instagram. At the same time, they were announcing that they are closing down their social media and their website and taking a break for the next few months. I think it has really taken everyone by surprise. Because there was so much talk about the couple preparing projects and ready to launch initiatives. When actually it was two people that were like, ‘We need a break too.’”

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry won’t launch their new brand anytime soon

With Sussex Royal officially shuttered, royal fans are eager to learn what the Sussexes will do in their life post-Megxit. However, it will be quite some time before they launch their new brand.

“Meghan and Harry are trying to rebrand themselves and want to make a big media splash but are stymied by the coronavirus situation,” a source told US Weekly. “They are losing out on potential paid opportunities by having to keep a low profile. They did the move to L.A. to be closer to the deal makers and are setting up calls and virtual meetings with agents, studio heads. Meghan and Harry are “plotting for a summer or fall ‘splash.’”

For now, we know a relaunch of the duchess former lifestyle brand, The Tig might be on the table as well as some Hollywood work and a possible cookbook.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s new brand will be disruptive

When the Sussexes do return to the global stage, they won’t do so quietly. Royal experts expect their fame to continue to skyrocket.

“The Meghan and Harry brand has always been very disruptive,”  Jeetendra Sehdev the author of The Kim Kardashian Principe told The Guardian. “They’re going to show us all a different way in which royal family members can live. The closest comparison to Meghan and Harry will be the Obamas and what they’re actually doing, I mean they’ve created an entertainment entity where they’re producing documentaries and I think that will be a similar route that Meghan and Harry can certainly take. Letting people into who they are – because at the moment we don’t really know who Meghan and Harry are. We just know that they’re part of the royal family.”
