Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are reportedly already looking into education for their firstborn. And, as it turns out, the Duchess of Sussex has her eye on an American education for her little royal-to-be. Find out why Prince Harry and Meghan Markle might send Baby Sussex (and future children) an an American school, ahead.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are considering ACS Egham International School in Egham, Surrey
Ahead of their due date, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are already planning for the future — and that includes an education for their children. In the royal family, homeschooling is sort of a thing of the past, which means most royal children (including Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis) attend private schools in London or near their family homes.
With that in mind, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are allegedly considering ACS Egham International School — formerly known as the American Community School — which offers American curriculum for children between the ages of four and 18.
The school is close to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s new family home
Perhaps one of the most appealing aspects of the co-ed private school is the location. The American school is conveniently located just down the road from the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s new family home in Windsor. According to E! News, it’s “opposite Windsor Great Park.”
They want a more diverse education for their children
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have big plans for Baby Sussex and their future children. Apparently, one of the reasons why the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have considered the American school is because they “are thought to want a more diverse education for their child,” notes an E! News source.
Learning American curriculum in Britain might not be the most diverse education, but it’s certainly different than what other schools — including Prince George and Princess Charlotte’s school — in the United Kingdom might offer.
Meghan Markle wants her children to know about their heritage
The real reason Meghan Markle wants her children to attend an American school? The Duchess of Sussex allegedly wants her children to grow up with knowledge of their American roots. “Meghan is keen for her child to be fully aware of his or her American heritage,” E! News’ source confirms.
While she has worked hard to shed some of her American ways to fit in with the royal family, Meghan Markle doesn’t want to completely ignore her roots — especially when it comes to her children.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will shield their children from royal life
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have discussed their children’s future beyond education. Apparently, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are adamant about shielding Baby Sussex and any future children from the royal limelight. That explains why the parents-to-be are moving away from the royal family’s headquarters to a home in Windsor that offers more privacy and normalcy.
Sending their children to a school in Surrey versus London could also provide a more secure, non-royal upbringing.
