What did Harry and Meghan reveal in their interview?

There were a number of shocking revelations in the interview. One of the most troubling was that some members of the royal family were worried about how dark Archie’s skin was going to be when Meghan was pregnant.

“In those months when I was pregnant, all around this same time… we have in tandem the conversation of, he won’t be given security, he’s not gonna be given a title and also concerns and conversations about how dark his skin might when he’s born,” Meghan told Oprah.

This concern made no sense to Meghan as the Commonwealth is made up of people of diverse backgrounds.

“The Commonwealth is a huge part of the monarchy and I lived in Canada, which is a Commonwealth country, for seven years,” she said. “But it wasn’t until Harry and I were together that we started to travel through the Commonwealth… 60, 70 percent of which is people of color.”

Meghan also revealed that Archie was not give the option of having a title.

“I could never understand how it wouldn’t be seen as an added benefit and a reflection of the world today, at all times, but especially right now,” she said. “To go, how inclusive is that you can see someone who looks like you in this family, much less one who’s born into it.”

During the interview, Meghan also claimed that her treatment by the press, the public, and the royal family led her to want to harm herself.

“I realized that it was all happening just because I was breathing and I was really ashamed to say it at the time and ashamed to admit it to Harry because I know how much loss he’s suffered but I knew that if I didn’t say it — then I would do it and I just didn’t want to be alive anymore,” she told Oprah of telling Harry that she was thinking of self-harming.

The Sussexes also said that the crown basically cut them off and removed their security, leaving them unprotected with very little notice.

How much were Prince Harry and Meghan Markle paid for the Oprah interview?

While Harry and Meghan made sure to keep things classy during their interview, some of the things that they said were quite damaging to the royal family’s image. So, how much were they paid to potentially deepen the rift between Harry and his family? Apparently, nothing.

The pair were not paid for their interview but CBS paid $7 million to Harpo Productions for the licensing rights. The network also charged around $325,000 for 30 seconds of commercial time during the interview, according to Town and Country.

Meghan and Harry’s purpose of sitting down with Oprah was not about money at all.

“Their intention is that after this interview people understand their reasons better,” a source told HollywoodLife. “The hope is that with their truth out there, in their own words, it will put a stop to all the false narratives.”
