Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Just Gave the Baby Archie Update Royal Fans Have Been Dying to Know
What’s baby Archie up to these days? It’s been a minute since royal fans last saw him on Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s tour of Africa and now the Sussexes have a new update about their little guy’s latest milestones.
Prince Harry and Markle give a new Archie update
During a surprise visit with military families in their hometown of Windsor on Nov. 6, Prince Harry and Markle got some face time with families of service personnel who are currently deployed overseas.
Amidst the chatting at the local community center, there was a brief update about Archie revealed — he’s crawling and has his first teeth!
One of the moms who was there, Amy Thompson, whose husband Brad is in the Welsh Guards, shared with BBC News: “My daughter Aeris is the same age as Archie and we talked about weaning and the children beginning to crawl — she’s just a normal mum and it was like talking to a friend.”
Prince Harry noted, when they learned of the challenges military families face, that being away from a child would be difficult. He shared: “I can’t imagine what it’s like to miss so much as they change so quickly.”
Markle also revealed that Archie has two teeth now, as she mentioned in a video the couple posted on their Instagram account. While talking to a little girl, Markle shared: “Archie just got two teeth, two tiny ones right there,” she said as she pointed to her lower gums.
When do babies get teeth and start crawling?
Archie, who is six months old, is on target for these new milestones, as Baby Center notes that “most babies sprout their first tooth sometime between 6 and 10 months old.” The site further notes that the teeth typically come in in this order: “the bottom two middle ones first, then the top two middle ones, then the ones along the sides.”
The Parents website explains that babies typically start crawling between 6 and 10 months. Of course, this gives way to pulling up to stand and eventually walking, so Prince Harry and Markle’s little one is well on his way to being very active — and keeping his parents plenty busy as he explores.
Is baby Archie talking yet?
Baby Archie may be on the move but he hasn’t yet started talking — though, according to an insider, that will happen soon. A source told Us Weekly, “He’s a strong baby and you can tell he’s super smart. He can sit up without support and roll over, and he’s almost crawling. He can’t talk yet, but he’s trying.”
The insider believes Archie’s first word will be “Dada,” as they dished: “When Harry walks into the room, Archie gets so excited, he puts his arms out — his way of saying, ‘Pick me up!’ You can tell Archie’s going to be a social butterfly. He’s at his happiest when he’s around people.”
“He takes a keen interest in his surroundings and is already engaging and interacting with people,” the source shared. “He loves to be entertained. And he isn’t a needy baby — he’ll happily go to Harry and Meghan’s friends without kicking up a fuss.”
