Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Might Know Their Baby’s Gender After All
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s baby’s gender has sparked many conversations in the months since announcing her pregnancy last fall. And, while many believed the Duke and Duchess of Sussex broke royal protocol and found out whether they are having a boy or a girl, Meghan Markle recently put rumors to rest. “We decided to keep it a secret,” the duchess revealed while on a royal engagement earlier this year. However, new reports suggest the parents-to-be might actually know whether they will welcome a prince or princess this spring.
Are Prince Harry and Meghan Markle having a boy or girl?
When it comes to their baby’s gender, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have kept the public guessing. But, a source close to the family told Us Weekly that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex actually know their baby’s gender — and Meghan Markle shared the details with her friends.
During her New York City girl’s trip, the Duchess of Sussex caught up with some of her closest friends — including Serena Williams, Jessica Mulroney, Amal Clooney, and Abigail Spencer — and celebrated the little royal-to-be. Despite the predominantly pink baby shower decor, Meghan Markle allegedly announced she and Prince Harry are having a baby boy this spring.
To confirm her rumored announcement, some claim — and royal family fans insist — they are having a boy because her former co-star and close friend, Abigail Spencer brought Baby Sussex gifts wrapped in blue.
Do Prince Harry and Meghan Markle actually know their baby’s gender?
It’s hard to say for sure whether or not these reports are accurate — especially since Kensington Palace (or any other official communication office for the royal family) has not confirmed the details. But, one thing is for certain: Even if the Duke and Duchess of Sussex know their baby’s gender, they won’t share it with the public until after his or her arrival.
Traditionally, members of the royal family don’t find out their baby’s gender until his or her arrival. And, if they do, they don’t make it public knowledge. That said, if Prince Harry and Meghan Markle know they are having a boy, they wouldn’t be the first royals to break protocol. Princess Diana allegedly knew Prince Harry was a boy. “I knew Harry was going to be a boy because I saw on the scan,” she told Andrew Morton in 1991.
Prince Harry hopes for a daughter
Whether they know their baby’s gender or not, Prince Harry has suggested his hopes for a daughter. On the first day of their Australian royal tour (which, coincidentally, was the same day they announced their pregnancy), well-wishers make remarks about Baby Sussex. One allegedly called out the prince and said, “I hope it’s a girl!” The Duke of Sussex immediately replied, “so do I!”
Meghan Markle already has the sweetest gift for their daughter
The Duchess of Sussex has also brought up her possible future daughter. Back when she was still an actress and not married to Prince Harry (or involved in the royal family), Meghan Markle revealed that she already has a gift for her future baby girl. In a 2015 interview, the former actress said that she purchased a Cartier watch for herself after her television series, Suits was picked up for another season. “I had it engraved on the back, ‘to M.M. From M.M.’ and I play to give it to my daughter one day,” she noted.
