Prince Harry and Meghan Markle roll out Sussex Royal Instagram

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex now have their very own Instagram account called Sussex Royal, yet another way the couple are separating their household from other royal family members.

Their first post announced: “Official Instagram for their Royal Highnesses the Duke and Duchess of Sussex” under a crown with a monogrammed logo that’s a scripted mashup of ‘H’ and ‘M.’

The caption shared what to expect on Prince Harry and Markle’s Instagram account: “Welcome to our official Instagram. We look forward to sharing the work that drives us, the causes we support, important announcements, and the opportunity to shine a light on key issues. We thank you for your support, and welcome you to @sussexroyal – Harry and Meghan.”

The post includes a number of photos of the couple that show them at work and greeting their fans.

Kensington Palace announced the split of Instagram accounts

With Prince Harry and Markle splitting from Kensington Palace, it’s only logical that they have a social media account dedicated to them, with the Kensington Palace account noting how fans can keep up with their favorite royals.

The Kensington Palace account announced the Sussex Royal Instagram, noting: “Welcome to Instagram, @SussexRoyal! Follow @SussexRoyal for more on the work of The Duke and Duchess of Sussex. Follow @KensingtonRoyal for more on the work of The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.”

Photos and details of Prince Harry and Markle’s announcements and official events and appearances had previously been shared on the Kensington Palace Instagram account, but with their own account, it will now be dedicated to Prince William and Kate Middleton news.

Fans are freaking out about the Sussex Royal Instgram account

Understandably, fans are thrilled that there’s a new Instagram account for all things related to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. There’s already excitement building over the announcement of the arrival of Baby Sussex, so the timing for their own social media presence is perfect.

Fans are also noting how this is yet another indication that Harry and William are separating their households, as Prince Harry and Markle prepare to move to Frogmore Cottage. There’s been chatter in the past that this separation points to a feud between the brothers and/or their wives, but it most likley indicates that each couple is branching out to raise their families.

The Palace made the official announcement of the split, noting that Harry and Markle’s new household “will ensure that permanent support arrangements for the Duke and Duchess’s work are in place as they start their family and move to their official residence at Frogmore Cottage.”

Kensington Palace recently released their guidelines for social media, which will apply to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s Instagram account as well. They put forward the rules in an effort “to help create a safe environment on all social media channels run by The Royal Family, Clarence House and Kensington Palace” and “to create an environment where our community can engage safely in debate and is free to make comments, questions and suggestions.”
