Could Prince Harry and Markle leave the royal family?

According to Princess Diana’s former butler and assistant, Paul Burrell, he expects that the Sussexes are considering a more permanent move, buying a home in the United States and escaping the negative press for a while.

It’s unclear if the couple will actually move to the U.S., but Burrell doesn’t rule it out, noting that, in part, Markle “will want to bring up her children as half American.”

In an interview with Fox News, Burrell shared that Princess Diana had hoped to move to California, explaining, “Ironically, we had the plans for a house on the west coast of America in Malibu… We had the plans for that house, and we dedicated the rooms to William and Harry and the princess.”

He continued: “Myself and my wife and the children were going to live above the house. So her future was turning towards America.”

Burrell remarked: “I do believe wholeheartedly that Meghan will want to bring up her children as half American, so they will need a place here. It wouldn’t surprise me if they bought a place in the United States.”

The Sussexes shared how cruel the spotlight has been

During an interview for their documentary, Harry and Meghan: An African Journey, Prince Harry noted of the media: “I will not be bullied into playing a game that killed my mum.”

Markle also shared her perspective in an interview featured in the documentary, explaining, “It’s not enough to just survive something, that’s not the point of life. You have got to thrive.”

Burrell couldn’t help but see parallels with the documentary and what he experienced with Princess Diana, noting that he thought “my goodness, is history repeating itself?”

He shared: “I walked with the princess through those minefields [in Africa], as Harry did, and I saw Diana in Harry as he was doing exactly the same thing. All they’re trying to do is shine a light on people’s plights in far-off places, who have no voice. So I do see history repeating itself.”

He added, “Do we really want to chase two people down the same path [as Diana]?”

Prince Harry and Markle may make a part-time move to the U.S.

Columnist Dan Wootton believes that the couple will make a “part time move.” During an interview on ITV’s Lorraine, the host asked: “Now look Harry and Meghan, what’s happening to them? Because you know that I’ve said ‘I think they should take some time off.’ I think they would take some time off, so they’re going to do that?”

Wootton believes a move could be in their future, sharing: “What I have learned is they’re going to spend some of the six weeks in California considering a potential part-time move there. So you could be looking at a situation where they might even spend great swats of the year in the U.S.”

He noted that “this hasn’t been decided yet” and that they will have to “work out exactly where they want to be,” adding, “But the suggestion is very much California because that’s of course where Meghan’s mother Doria is.”

Further, according to The Sun, Markle and Prince Harry are considering moving or setting up a second home in the U.S.

A source shared: “There’s an acceptance that things haven’t worked out with the Sussexes full-time in Windsor so they could have a second base in America.”

The insider noted: “The Duke and Duchess will be taking some family time towards the end of the year, once their diary commitments are done. We are unsure at this time but it will likely be spent between the UK and U.S. Any further inference on their plans is pure speculation.”
