Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s Nickname for Archie Revealed During Africa Tour and It’s Too Cute
Royal fans count seeing Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s son, Archie, during their royal tour of Africa a big highlight of the trip. Photos and video of their baby revealed that he’s definitely a mini-me of Harry and that he’s a happy and healthy little guy. Fans noticed a blink-and-you-might-have-missed-it moment in the cute nickname Prince Harry and Markle have for Archie.
Archie makes a splash in Africa
For any fan hoping to see more than a passing glimpse of Archie during the family’s tour of Africa, their wish came true. The Sussexes had Archie along for a very special meet and greet with Archbishop Desmond Tutu and his daughter, Thandeka Tutu-Gxashe, in Cape Town.
Video captured the arrival of the family, with Markle holding Archie and dad having a chat with his little one along the way. They met up with Tutu and Tutu-Gxashe, where photos and video captured the conversation.
Markle shifted the wiggly baby’s position during their meeting, with Harry explaining that the baby is “so busy, constantly wanting to stand.”
In talking about the media attention, Markle noted that Archie is “an old soul,” and Prince Harry shared, “I think he is used to it already.”
Archie’s nickname revealed
During the visit, fans picked up on a sweet nickname the couple has for their four-month-old son, revealed in a video from the day. Markle holds Archie while bouncing him in her lap and is heard saying, “Say hello! Hello, hi,” then realizes he’s drooling and says, “Oh, bubba!”
It’s also believed she called him by the nickname while they walked in a corridor on the way to meet their hosts, captured in video and posted to their Instagram Stories.
During the meeting, when Archie let out a giggle when Tutu-Gxashe laughed, Markle asked him, “Is that funny?,” and Tutu’s daughter remarked that Archie seemed to understand what Markle asked.
Prince Harry noted: “I think he knows exactly what is going on.”
Tutu-Gxashe found Archie’s flirty nature adorable, telling the tyke: “You like me, don’t you? You like the ladies better, don’t you? He’s going to be a ladies’ man.”
Markle agreed, noting, “He likes to flirt!”
Later, the Sussexes shared a black and white photo of the Archbishop kissing Archie on the forehead and included the caption: “Thank you Archbishop Tutu for your incredibly warm hospitality, Archie loved meeting you! — The Duke and Duchess.”
The behind-the-scenes video they shared of their visit included Archie high-fiving Archbishop Tutu as well as the baby dancing with his mom. They captioned it: “Thanks Cape Town for another impactful and memorable day! A few more highlights of this very special visit with Archbishop Desmond Tutu.”
Prince Harry and Markle praise each other’s parenting skills
Archie has been noticeably absent during most of their tour, but the Sussexes have spoken about him along the way. In one particularly touching moment, the two new parents praised each other’s parenting skills.
During their visit to Monwabisi Beach to learn about the mental wellness group Waves for Change, Prince Harry and Markle took part in a “power hand” session, which had each person identify one strength.
Ash Heese, a manager for Waves for Change, shared that Markle “said parenting is the new strength that she and Harry are learning.”
Heese continued: “She said, ‘He’s the best dad,’ and [Harry] said, ‘No, she’s the best mom.’”
