Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are making sure to have a secure home after their privacy was previously breached. It’s been announced that the new father has won damages for photos taken of their previous home.

Photos were taken of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s home in Cotswolds from a helicopter

The whole thing started when the royal couple’s home in Cotswolds was photographed from a helicopter in January. Those photos were then published in a newspaper.

This was perceived as a breach of security. Harry’s solicitor, Gerrard Tyrrell gave a statement in court, according to Hello. “The property had been chosen by The Duke for himself and his wife given the high level of privacy it afforded given its position in a secluded area surrounded by private farmland away from any areas to which photographers have access,” started the statement.

He continued, “The helicopter flew over the home at a low altitude allowing Splash to take photographs of and into the living area and dining area of the home and directly into the bedroom… The syndication and publication of the photographs very seriously undermined the safety and security of The Duke and the home to the extent that they are no longer able to live at the property.”

Prince Harry won substantial damages for the photos

Splash gave their own statement on the matter. “Splash has always recognized that this situation represents an error of judgment and we have taken steps to ensure it will not be repeated. We apologize to the Duke and Duchess for the distress we have caused.”

Buckingham Palace released a statement about the outcome of the ordeal. It reads that Prince Harry “acknowledges and welcomes the formal apology from Splash News and Picture Agency as referenced in the Statement in Open Court today,” according to People.

The couple moved to Frogmore Cottage after the photos were released

Where did the couple go after pictures were taken of their $3 million home? They went to Frogmore Cottage in Windsor.

“The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will move to Frogmore Cottage on the Windsor Estate early next year [2019] as they prepare for the arrival of their first child,” read the palace’s memo about the move.

It continued, “The couple have lived at Nottingham Cottage since their engagement last year. Windsor is a very special place for Their Royal Highnesses and they are grateful that their official residence will be on the estate. The Duke and Duchess’s official office will continue to be based at Kensington Palace.”

The new home reportedly has 10 bedrooms so it’s a big estate. However, the couple reportedly hasn’t hired certain staff members yet to help them with it.

“The couple have yet to hire a nanny, chef or a team of staff at their new family home,” Royal reporter Katie Nicholl said according to Cosmopolitan. Markle’s mother, Doria has reportedly been helping the new mother with baby Archie instead.
