Prince Harry Wrote Prince Charles a Personal Note Ahead of Prince Philip’s Funeral

Prince Philip’s death has brought the British royal family back together again. The royal has had a tumultuous couple of years. They’ve dealt with Prince Andrew’s ties to late sex offender Jefferey Epstein which caused him to be shunned from royal life, Megxit, Prince Harry and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex’s explosive interview with Oprah Winfrey, and now, the death of Prince Philip at age 99.

Just over a month after telling the world that he got no support from his family when it came to Meghan facing the British tabloids, Prince Harry returned to the U.K. for a final goodbye to his grandfather. Since things have obviously been strained between himself and his father, Prince Charles, and brother, Prince William, many royal fans assumed the Duke of Edinburgh’s funeral would be a dramatic affair.

However, that was not the case. Instead, Prince Harry has extended an olive branch toward his family, especially with Prince Charles.

Prince Harry revealed that he felt ‘really let down’ by Prince Charles

In his shocking interview with Oprah, Prince Harry revealed that he and Meghan felt unsupported by his family. He explained that he and the duchess were left to deal with the racist and sexist vitriol against her alone, taking a drastic toll on their mental health. The royals, who have long adhered to a “stiff upper lip” policy where they keep calm and carry on did nothing to combat the rumors and lies.

The Duke of Sussex called his father out in particular, for remaining silent despite his power and position.

“There’s a lot to work through there,” Prince Harry explained about his relationship with his father. “I feel really let down because he’s been through something similar.” Following the interview, CBS’ Gayle King reported that the prince had a phone conversation with his father and brother that was reportedly unproductive.

Prince Charles wanted to issue a more detailed statement in response to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s Oprah Interview

When it came to addressing the Sussexes’ Oprah interview especially their allegations of racism, Prince William told the press bluntly that the royals were “very much not a racist family.” In contrast, Queen Elizabeth II released a statement saying that the issues within the family would be handled privately.

However, Prince Charles, who was reportedly despairing over his son’s comments, had wanted to handle things differently.

“My understanding is that Prince Charles did want to issue a more detailed statement in response to the Oprah interview and possibly address some of those issues point by point,” royal expert Katie Nicholl told Entertainment Tonight. She added, “I think Prince Charles and Prince William were keen to correct some of the things that the couple had said.”

Prince Harry wrote Prince Charles a private note ahead of Prince Philip’s funeral

In his interview, despite past hurts, Prince Harry made it clear that he wanted to rebuild with his family. The death of his grandfather seemingly pushed him to take the first steps.

The prince reportedly wrote his father a deeply personal note ahead of Prince Philip’s funeral. “He wrote a deeply personal note to his dad to try and set things straight, but tensions are still running high, and things haven’t exactly ironed out the way he had hoped,” a royal source reportedly told The Mirror. “There had been a kind of unspoken agreement between everyone to park whatever has been on each person’s mind and solely concentrate on supporting the Queen ahead of Prince Philip’s funeral.”
