Prince Harry’s Exit From the Royal Family Finally Ended His Feud With Prince William
At least there is one positive thing that has come out of Prince Harry’s exit from the royal family. Harry has reportedly been in talks with Prince William ahead of his move to Canada, and a source close to the royal family claims that the brothers have finally made amends. Here is a look at how William and Harry put their differences aside and ended their longstanding feud.
Prince William and Prince Harry have a heart-to-heart
Harry and Meghan Markle announced that they are stepping down as senior members of the royal family a few weeks ago. While Meghan is currently back on Vancouver Island, Harry has been meeting with members of the royal family to iron out the details of their exit.
According to Page Six, the meetings have resulted in Harry and William making peace with each other — an unexpected outcome of the couple’s decision to step down.
“They decided to cut out all the toxic people stirring around them to deal with each other man-to-man as brothers,” the source shared.
The insider added that Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton have been in a few of the discussions between Prince William and Prince Harry. The couples realized that if they did not make amends now, they probably never would.
Although Prince William and Prince Harry still have their disagreements, the source claims that the “family warmth” has returned between the brothers. Harry and Meghan are looking forward to living out of the spotlight, but they are still sad about living so far from William and Kate.
Prince Harry opens up about Megxit
Over the weekend, Harry talked about his decision to leave the royal family during a charity dinner for Sentebale. In his speech, Harry revealed that the decision to step down was not taken lightly and was months in the making.
“There remains a real lack of trust there and it’s going to take some time to resolve,” the insider added.
Harry assured the audience that he and Meghan did not want to walk away from the public. They planned on continuing their service to Queen Elizabeth and the commonwealth, but not taking public funds made that impossible.
At the end of the day, Prince Harry hopes that his decision will lead to a peaceful life with Meghan and their son, Archie Harrison.
Harry did not mention anything about his feud with William. But it sounds like the negotiation process has brought the brothers closer than they have been in years — which is a good thing.
What about Prince Charles?
Prince William and Prince Harry have seemingly made amends, but the same cannot be said of Harry and his father, Prince Charles. The Prince of Wales was reportedly very sad about Megxit and does not want to see Harry and Meghan leave.
The source says that Prince Harry’s relationship with Charles is now more complicated than ever. Unless that changes in the near future, it might be a long time before Harry and Charles get on the same page.
“The decision that I have made for my wife and I to step back, is not one I made lightly,” Harry said. “And I know I haven’t always gotten it right, but as far as this goes, there really was no other option.”
There has been a lot of talk about Charles slimming down the monarchy once he takes the throne. But he has always envisioned Harry and Meghan being part of the royal family.
The good news is that Prince Harry and Meghan can always decide to return to their previous posts, though that seems very unlikely given their recent struggles. The couple’s reputation has also taken a big hit and could take years to repair.
What happens next?
Following the exit negotiations, Queen Elizabeth confirmed that Harry and Meghan have lost their royal titles. The couple will still retain their titles as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, as well as the name of their charitable foundation, Sussex Royal.
It is unclear how much time Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will spend in the U.K. moving forward. We also do not know how many public appearances they will make with other royals, but they will continue their charitable work in the coming years.
Harry and Meghan are also looking to purchase a second home in Canada, which is where they will spend part of the year. Although this will bring Meghan closer to her mother, Doria Ragland, it puts a lot of distance between Harry and William.
The Sussexes are expected to remain in Frogmore Cottage for the portion of the year they spend in the U.K.
Prince William has yet to respond to the rumors about his feud with Prince Harry.
