Prince William and Kate Middleton Become the Face of the Royal Family Amid News Harry and Meghan Are Never Coming Back
Prince William and Kate Middleton are quickly becoming the face of the royal family. William and Kate, Duchess of Cambridge, have increased their royal duties over the past few months and are doing their best to cope with recent changes. Now that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will reportedly never return to the monarchy, William and Kate have an opportunity to lead the royals like never before.
Prince William and Kate Middleton continue their royal duties
William and Kate are making big adjustments amid the coronavirus pandemic. The couple is social distancing at their country estate, Anmer Hall, where they have been carrying out their usual royal duties via video calls.
The virtual meetings have a completely different feeling than traditional royal engagements, and royal experts Omid Scobie and Maggie Rulli believe the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge should adopt some of these new elements when they return to Kensington Palace.
“You have been on royal engagements, you know how orchestrated these events are,” Scobie shared. “So there is something really refreshing about the organic nature of these Zoom calls. They don’t seem to run to an exact time frame.”
According to Express, Scobie added that he hopes William and Kate will “keep some of this informality” from here on out. He also pointed out that it shows a different side of the couple, which is more “authentic” and “raw.”
William and Kate have been holding video conferences ever since the coronavirus pandemic ground everything to a halt. They have also been updating their followers on social media, which includes sharing rare photos of their lives behind closed doors.
The Cambridges praise volunteers
A good example of William and Kate taking part in an informal royal engagement came this month when they pair hosted a video conference for their emergency text line that helps people suffering from mental and emotional stress.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge launched the initiative in 2019. A year later, the volunteers who run the text line, which is called Shout, have contacted over 300,000 people in need.
According to Insider, Prince William and Kate called the head of the head of the charity, Victoria Hornby, and chatted with a few responders in celebration of the program’s one-year anniversary.
“You guys are the trailblazers, you have been doing a fantastic job keeping Shout moving forward, so well done and thank you for all your hard work,” William shared. “We really appreciate it.”
William and Kate shared portions of their discussions with Shout leaders on social media. During their conversation, they highlighted the importance of Shout, especially when it relates to young people dealing with the coronavirus pandemic.
Prince William and Kate Middleton become the face of the royal family
It has already been over a month since Harry and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, stopped being active members of the royal family. With the Sussexes starting their new lives in Los Angeles, royal expert Ingrid Seward believes Prince William and Kate are already picking up the slack.
According to Yahoo, Seward revealed that the Cambridges feel like they are the only members of the royal family who can connect to the younger generation. She also shared that they know their responsibilities and believe they can comfort people during the crisis.
“They feel almost wholly responsible as they are the only influential ones young enough to be out there at the moment apart from Sophie and Edward and The Princess Royal,” Seward shared. “They have the highest profile and want to use it to the benefit of the monarchy, which has to be seen as being a comfort to people at this time.”
Although Prince William and Kate have increased their public presence over the past few weeks, Seward thinks that they enjoy having more on their plate. The expert explained how the couple is “more relaxed and comfortable” now that Harry and Meghan are officially gone.
Are Prince Harry and Meghan Markle ever coming back to the royal family?
Harry and Meghan moved to LA in March with their son, Archie Harrison, and have been keeping a fairly low profile. The royals are set to re-examine the couple’s exit in a year’s time, but royal expert Marlene Koenig says they have zero plans to return to their posts.
According to Express, Koenig revealed that Harry and Meghan have made up their minds when it comes to returning to the royal family. Not only are they never coming back, but Koenig says that Queen Elizabeth has already accepted their fate.
“Absolutely not, not going to happen. They have made their decision and the Queen has accepted it,” Koenig explained.
Koenig added Harry and Meghan will continue to update fans on their future plans via social media. This likely includes launching their new foundation, Archewell, which is taking the place of the couple’s former organization, Sussex Royal.
Prince William and Kate Middleton have not publicly commented on Prince Harry and Meghan Markle since they made their exit official.
