Prince William and Kate Middleton Feel Like They Can Relax and Push Boundaries Since Harry and Meghan’s Exit
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s exit is shaking up the royal family like never before, yet it may end up benefitting Prince William and Kate Middleton. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have looked more relaxed than ever in the wake of Megxit, sparking talk that they can finally rest easy now that Harry and Meghan are out of the royal family. Here’s a look at how Prince William and Catherine, Duchess of Sussex, have been pushing the boundaries since Harry and Meghan’s shocking exit.
What does Megxit mean for Prince William and Kate Middleton?
At the beginning of January, Harry and Meghan stunned the world by announcing they are stepping down as senior members of the royal family. The royals were reportedly blindsided by the announcement, which prompted a serious of meetings between Harry, Queen Elizabeth, Prince Charles, and Prince William.
After the meetings concluded, Queen Elizabeth confirmed that Harry and Meghan will no longer be active members of the royal family. Although the couple will keep their titles as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, they will lose their HRH titles.
With Prince Harry and Meghan out of the mix, other members of the royal family will undoubtedly have to pick up the slack. This includes Prince William and Kate, who are expected to take on more responsibilities in the coming years.
Luckily, William and Kate are handling the added pressure like it’s no big deal. During their latest series of public engagements, the Cambridges have appeared very relaxed, and they’re even showing more PDA than ever before.
Kate Middleton and Prince William pack on the PDA
Ever since they tied the knot in 2011, William and Kate have kept their PDA to a minimum. In fact, the couple usually avoids showing signs of affection in public, a protocol set in place by other members of the royal family.
But in light of Harry and Meghan’s exit, William and Kate seem to be relaxing their stance on PDA.
According to The Sun, body language expert Judi James has examined photos from Prince William and Kate’s latest outing and believes they are showing more affection than ever. This includes more physical contact and non-verbal signs.
“William and Kate do seem to be bringing more non-verbal signals and touches into their ‘routine’ post-Megxit though, apparently understanding that they can push the boundaries a little without suffering from obsessive interest and criticism,” James explained.
James added that William and Kate are showing more affection, but they are also making sure they don’t totally disregard royal tradition. The two understand that it is okay to push the boundaries as long as they don’t compromise tradition.
The Cambridges seem more relaxed
In addition to showing more love and affection, William and Kate have appeared much more relaxed during their latest royal engagements.
During their recent trip to Bradford, for instance, the Cambridges met royal watchers for some milkshakes at a local ice cream parlor. The couple appeared to have a great time at the eatery and were caught smiling more than once.
“Kate tends to be more active and demonstrative but William mimics enough to make it mutual and he seems to mutter asides into Kate’s ear to prompt most of the joking,” James shared.
Prince William and Kate also had a blast attending the BAFTAs over the weekend. The couple dazzled fans on the red carpet, while William gave a great speech in front of the UK’s biggest celebrities.
Although Harry and Meghan’s exit has caused a lot of negative press for the royals, William and Kate seem to be embracing their new roles with confidence.
Did Meghan and Harry inspire William and Kate?
With William and Kate looking more relaxed and unafraid to engage in a little PDA, there has been some talk about how they are following Harry and Meghan’s lead.
Prior to their shocking exit, Harry and Meghan were widely considered the most affectionate couple in the royal family. The two never seemed shy about expressing their love in front of the cameras, and some experts believe that William and Kate are doing the same.
There is no telling if Prince William and Kate Middleton are consciously copying Harry and Meghan, but there is no denying that they have gotten more affectionate in recent months.
As part of their new plan, Harry and Meghan will be living in Canada for part of the year. It is unclear how long they remain in Canada, but it definitely means royal watchers will see less of them moving forward.
Prince William and Kate Middleton have not commented on the reports surrounding Megxit.
