Prince William and Kate Middleton Used Fake Names to Keep Identities Secret on Romantic Vacation

Celebrities have been known to use fake names at hotels so they don’t draw attention to themselves, but would you believe that Prince William and Kate Middleton have done it before? The names they used as their fake identities on a romantic vacation are surprising.

How do you go unnoticed when you’re known around the world as one of the planet’s most famous couples? Prince William and Middleton, during a trip to Seychelles in 2007, gave alias names at their hotel so they could fly under the radar.

Biographer Andrew Morton shared the details of their fake names in his 2011 book William and Catherine, when the two took a trip together to mend things after their second breakup.

Morton shared: “Kate and William, under the assumed names of Martin and Rose Middleton, bid farewell to the paradise island of Desroches in the Outer Seychelles where they had spent a sublime week renewing their love affair.”

Additionally, author Marcia Moody shared in her 2013 book Kate: “They stayed in the Desroches Island Resort, checking in under the names Martin and Rosemary Middleton, and went kayaking and snorkeling in the shallow coral reef.”

Moody continued, “It was during this break that they made an agreement with each other. For the next few years, they would work and enjoy their lives, knowing that at some point when the time was right, they would be husband and wife.”

Their secret pact

The couple reportedly made a secret pact after their second split, with royal biographer Katie Nicholl claiming in her 2011 book The Making of a Royal Romance that they secretly agreed to marry — three years before they were officially engaged.

She wrote: “The British press did label Kate ‘Waity Katy’ which she absolutely hated. I suppose what none of us knew was that [she] and William had actually made a secret pact to be married way back in 2007, after they got together after their second major break-up.”

Nicholl added: “And we know that this is a couple who are very good at keeping secrets. So really, Kate had the last laugh, because she’s got her prince.”

Their Seychelles vacation destination is significant, of course, as it was the location of their honeymoon following their 2011 wedding. Moody shared that Prince William and Middleton stayed in the remote North Island “in a luxury villa costing £3,000 a night.”

Prince Harry reportedly used a fake name on social media

Prince William wasn’t the only royal to use an alias. According to reports, Prince Harry used a secret fake name on social media during his college years, going by the alias ‘Spike Wells’ until 2012.

The Telegraph explained that Harry’s old hairstyle earned him the nickname Spike. A Facebook profile under the name Spike Wells had over 400 friends “including some of Britain’s richest young men and women.”

The profile was removed following Prince Harry’s scandalous naked partying in Las Vegas.
