Prince William and Kate Middleton’s Secret Parenting Rule Is Genius
Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge and Prince William are currently the main faces of the British royal family. However, the Cambridges don’t allow their hectic royal schedules to get in the way of their hands-on parenting. When their oldest son, Prince George was born, the duchess has a modified schedule for some years so that she could concentrate on being a mother.
With the addition of Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, the future Crowned King and Queen Consort have focused on making sure that their three little ones have as normal childhoods as possible. Though they have help from their live-in nanny, Maria Borrallo, the royal couple has been open about the ups and downs they experienced as a family.
Now, the Cambridges have let other parents in on their genius parenting hack that keeps their household running smoothly.
Kate Middleton and Prince William’s children have been in the spotlight more often
With Prince Harry and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex leaving royal life behind for a life in LA, the Cambridge family has been placed center stage in the royal family. The duo have been showcasing more of their family time with their children in photos while sharing tidbits about their home lives with royal fans. Sarah Gristwood, author of Elizabeth: The Queen and the Crown, explained to People,
What has been reinforced throughout all of this is just how important the Cambridges are. There is a repositioning going on within the royal family and we are clearly seeing this. I think this is one of the most important stages in Kate’s life as a royal. As a young mother, Kate was allowed to raise her children away from the media spotlight but now we are seeing a shift. She’s working harder, being more visible and we are also seeing more of the Cambridge children. Kate has been given a platform to take on a more prominent role. She’s not just accompanying William to engagements, she is doing things independently and voicing new ideas.
Prince William and Kate Middleton have strict parenting rules for their kids
Though they are three of the most famous children on the planet, the prince and the duchess have strict rules for their little ones. The pair are strict about making sure their children have a solid routine which includes a 7 p.m. bedtime, constant playtime outside, and very limited screentime.
“As two people who grew up without gadgets for entertainment themselves, William and Kate are firm believers in toys, outdoor play, and encouraging an active imagination,” a royal insider told US Weekly. “They’re very much a normal family.”
Inside Kate Middleton and Prince William’s secret parenting rule
In addition to their normal rules, the Cambridges have a secret parenting rule just between the two of them that keeps their household in harmony. The royal couple encourages their children to speak openly about their feelings.
“The children are encouraged to talk about their feelings,” a source explained to The Sun. “They express their concerns over school subjects, a swimming class, a tricky ballet maneuver, a missed tennis rally, or seeing children starving on a TV ad. But a talk ensues and a solution found. “
However, there is never any mixed signals coming from Kate or Prince William. “There is no question of one parent saying ‘no’ and the other saying ‘yes’ later on as Kate and William want to present a unified parental front to their children,” the source explained. “The television is not on throughout the day and programs have to be met with parental approval.”
