Princess Beatrice Is Engaged! Everything We Know About The Ring Designed By Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi Himself

Princess Beatrice is about to get married! Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi proposed to Beatrice during a trip to Italy a few weeks ago, presenting the royal with a gorgeous diamond and platinum engagement ring designed by Mozzi and Shaun Leane (one of Meghan Markle’s favorite jewelers). With the wedding set for 2020, here’s everything we know about Beatrice’s stunning ring.

Mozzi helps design Princess Beatrice’s ring

We got our first look at Beatrice’s engagement ring via Princess Eugenie’s Instagram. Beatrice’s sister shared a few photos of the couple, confirming their engagement on social media.

According to People, Mozzi helped design the ring with Leane, who opened up about the entire process in a recent interview.

The British designer said he was honored to get the opportunity to work with Mozzi, who knew exactly what he wanted at the very start. Mozzi, who did a lot of research ahead of time, wanted a round stone with an Art Deco aesthetic.

With Princess Beatrice loving Victorian design, the pair came up with a plan to forge the two looks together.

Leane revealed that the ring was four months in the making and took around six meetings to iron out. In these meetings, Mozzi would present a few ideas and Leane would go to the drawing board.

Mozzi also picked out the stones, which were sourced ethically from Botswana. Leane kept in constant communication with Mozzi, who approved each step in the process.

Leane, who has designed items for Cameron Diaz, Kate Moss, Adele, and Uma Thurman, would not say how much Beatrice’s ring cost to make. Experts believe that it is worth somewhere in the ballpark of $310,000.

Experts weigh in on the engagement ring

Experts have examined photos of Princess Beatrice’s ring and agree it features elements of Arc Deco. The long baguettes on the side of the ring are especially reminiscent of this style, and some believe it could spark a trend in the jewelry world.

The focal point of the ring, of course, is a massive 2.5-carat solitaire that has a classic look to it. The diamond is set in platinum and surrounding by smaller diamonds plus two baguettes.

“The brilliant round diamond looks to be about 2.5 carats set in a 6-prong platinum setting flanked by two smaller round diamonds and a baguette on either side,” Alicia Davis, the vice president of merchandise for Shane Co., explained.

Davis added that the overall design of the ring combines both a classic and modern look. She also believes that Princess Beatrice’s ring would look good on any bride, not just a member of the royal family.

“The timeless round diamond and regal, stylish baguettes give the ring a look that could fit any bride, whether she is vintage, trendy, or traditional,” Davis shared.

The early photos of the ring look absolutely gorgeous, and we are pretty confident that any bride would wear it with pride. It is also very different from Eugenie’s ring, which shows how they both have unique styles.

Princess Beatrice is currently ninth in line to the throne and is the daughter of Sarah Ferguson and Prince Andrew, both of whom congratulated her following the big announcement.

Leane shares close-up shot of the ring

Shortly after the announcement, Leane shared a close-up of Princess Beatrice’s ring on social media. The photos reveal just how impressive the ring truly is and how much work was put into the design.

What is particularly impressive is how the platinum band is completely hidden by the diamonds, which are, in total, around 3.5 carats. We still don’t know how much the ring cost, but it’s definitely outside the budget of the average person.

Beatrice and Mozzi have only been dating for a little over a year. They have, however, known each other since they were children.

Mozzi popped the big question while he and Princess Beatrice were on a trip to Italy. They waited to confirm the engagement until this week.

Following Eugenie’s post on social media, the couple released an official statement confirming the news to the media.

The two told royal watchers that they cannot wait to exchange vows and are looking forward to starting the next chapter in their lives — and we couldn’t be happier for them.

Mozzi, who made a fortune in the real estate world, has not commented on the reports surrounding the ring. Princess Beatrice and the royal family have yet to announce an official wedding date, though the ceremony should take place sometime in 2020.
