Princess Diana Was ‘Deeply Paranoid’ Of Camilla Parker Bowles Claims New Report

Princess Diana was loved by people around the world, but within the ranks of the royal family, she was reportedly struck by jealousy and paranoia over Prince Charles’s long-time romance with Camilla Parker Bowles.

Some of Diana’s closest friends are finally opening up about how she felt about Charles’s affair, revealing that Diana knew what was going on early in her marriage. The suspicions ultimately proved true, leading to years of jealousy for Princess Diana and pain for her family.

Inside Diana and Charles’s public romance

Diana made headlines when she started dating Charles at the young age of 19. At the time, Diana was not accustomed to the spotlight, and Charles was under pressure to get married and start a family of his own — supplying the monarchy with another heir.

Looking back, royal expert Richard Kay, who used to be a correspondent for the Daily Mail, believes that the marriage was doomed from the very beginning. Not only was Diana not ready for a major commitment, but she had only met Charles a dozen or so times before the engagement.

To make things even worse, Princess Diana suspected that Charles was keeping up his relationship with Bowles behind her back. According to Radar Online, Bowles gave Charles several gifts for the wedding, including some fancy cufflinks he wore during his honeymoon with Diana.

“She always felt that Camilla was in their marriage and that she couldn’t somehow get her out,” Tina Brown, the former editor of Vanity Fair, explained.

Princess Diana grows deeply paranoid of Bowles

While the pair put on a good front for the media, Diana grew deeply paranoid of Charles behind closed doors. Feeling rejected by both Charles and his family, Diana started starving herself and engaged in self-harm.

Diana’s bodyguard at the time, Ken Wharfe, says that everyone in the royal family knew that Charles was having an affair. Wharfe, however, claims that they did nothing to prevent Charles from pursuing Bowles, which only made the situation worse.

“There was nothing secret about the Prince of Wales’ relationship with Camilla. Everybody inside Buckingham Palace knew exactly what was happening – this was the problem,” Wharfe shared.

Princess Diana eventually reached the point where she confronted Bowles during a birthday party. Diana reportedly told Bowles to stop treating her like she was oblivious to what was going on.

Charles and Diana, of course, would eventually separate. The two parted ways in the early 1990s after Charles’s affair with Bowles became public knowledge. They divorced several years later in 1996.

Diana tragically passed away a year later in a horrible car accident in Paris. Princess Diana’s sons, Prince William and Prince Harry, were young boys at the time of her death. Charles and Bowles dated shortly after the divorce and tied the knot in 2005.

Elizabeth told Charles to dump Bowles

In the wake of Charles’s divorce from Diana, Queen Elizabeth reportedly urged him to find someone new. Her Majesty allegedly told her son to leave Bowles and did not want anything to do with her.

Elizabeth was understandably upset with Bowles because of the cheating scandal. Sources claim that she did not think highly of Bowles and wanted to distance herself from the scandal as much as possible.

Charles, however, had different plans. The Prince of Wales told Elizabeth that he wanted to pursue a relationship with Bowles, who he viewed as the love of his life. Even Princess Diana’s death did not change Charles’s mind.

In light of what happened to Diana, Elizabeth refused to appear in public with Bowles for many years. Charles also kept their romance out of the spotlight out of respect for Diana. It took Elizabeth three years before she started to warm up to Bowles, and the two had their first public appearance in 2000.

When Charles and Bowles exchanged vows in 2005, Elizabeth and her husband, Prince Philip, skilled the ceremony. They did make it the couple’s dedication ceremony inside Windsor Castle and attended the reception. After becoming a member of the royal family, Bowles took on the title of the Duchess of Cornwall instead of Princess Diana’s former title, Princess of Wales.

Charles has not commented on the reports surrounding his affair with Bowles. The two originally met in the 1970s but decided to marry different people. Bowles’s former husband was Andrew Parker Bowles, whom she divorced in 1995.
