Is Princess Eugenie Being Forced to Move out of Kensington Palace Amid the Prince Andrew Scandal?
The British Royal Family was just basking in praise and popularity. However, for some royals that has all come to a screeching halt. Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan Markle are currently on hiatus from their royal duties until the top of 2020. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were struggling in the public and Markle unfortunately, has not bee well-received by the British public or press.
However, there is one royal family that is fairing far worse than the Sussexes. The Yorks — Prince Andrew, his ex-wife, Duchess Sarah Ferguson, and their daughter’s Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie are currently reeling from a scandal of the prince’s making.
For years, the Prince of York was close friends with late-sex offender Jeffery Epstein. The prince maintained his friendship with the financier even after his 2008 conviction and imprisonment for soliciting a minor. Though Prince Andrew has tried to explain the friendship –it’s only made him look worse. Now he’s stepped away from his royal duties and is on the verge of being ousted altogether.
Inside Prince Andrew’s downfall
After Jeffrey Epstein was arrested again this summer and then after he committed suicide — royal fans began to question Prince Andrew’s relationship with the late financier. Things got even worse when one of Epstein’s alleged victims, Virginia Roberts, accused the prince of sexual abuse.
In an effort to clear his name, Prince Andrew released several statements. However, a November 2019 interview with BBC Newsnight proved to be disastrous. In the interview, the prince boasted that he did not regret his friendship with Epstein. The fallout was so massive that Queen Elizabeth’s favorite son has since stepped away from royal life.
Princess Eugenie could be forced to move out of Kensington Palace
Though Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrice are said to be continuing on with their limited royal duties — Prince Andrew’s scandal may have cost the younger princess her lavish Kensington Palace apartment.
Princess Eugenie has lived at the palace since her October 2018 wedding to her husband, Jack Brooksbank. They live at Ivy Cottage, a three-bedroom house on the grounds of the palace and they rent the home at a “commercial rate” of £182,000 a year. Her older sister, Princess Beatrice lives in an apartment at St James’s Palace which is said to be at the expense of British taxpayers. Since Prince Andrew was a working royal –his income funded his daughters’ lifestyles, including the princess’ rent. Now, all of that has changed.
Queen Elizabeth is trying to protect Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie
Though Prince Charles is said to be keen to thining out the bulky royal family — Queen Elizabeth and the rest of the royals are said to be rallying around the princesses.
“There was a sense of everyone circling the wagons around the girls,” a palace insider told Daily Mail. “There is a feeling that they must not be made to pay for the sins of the father. The Queen is particularly fond of Beatrice and Eugenie, and she respects the way that Andrew and Sarah have brought them up. The feeling is that everyone wants to protect them from this hurt and from further hurt, rather than dance on their father’s ‘grave’”
This is truly a terrible situation.
