Psalm West Could Have Had an Even More ‘Unusual’ Name

In the Kardashian-West household, it’s a family affair when it comes to naming babies. The couple takes several days to name a new child. But nothing is final until the whole Kardashian-Jenner-West Klan has weighed in. Kardashian and West’s kids have unique names and the newest addition — Psalm — is no exception. His name could have been even more unusual, but the family baby-naming committee nixed it.

What could Kim Kardashian and Kanye West’s fourth child have been named?

Psalm wasn’t the first name that the couple considered. During an April episode of Keeping Up With the Kardashians, Kardashian said they were considering naming the baby Rob, after her brother Rob Kardashian. Then on an episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live, she reflected on why they didn’t.

“But then it’s like, North, Saint, Chicago, and Rob.” Kim added, “[Rob] doesn’t really go. I really was feeling I like [Rob] or Robert, and my brother approved. So, that is our one, ‘kind of’ name.”

Kim Kardashian and Kanye West’s baby could have been named Ye.

Secretly we are glad Kardashian had second thoughts about naming her cute baby boy “Ye”, which is a shortened version of Kanye. West’s friends often refer to him by this nickname and the rapper’s 2018 album was titled ye.

Additionally, he uses it as his Twitter handle. However, in an interview with the Daily Mail, Kim said: “Kanye doesn’t like ‘Ye’ because it doesn’t mean anything.”

She then added: “We looked up every name in the Bible that had ‘Ye’ at the beginning and the only name was Yechiel.”

Kim Kardashian and Kanye West finally decided on naming the baby Psalm

Kardashian and West’s fourth child, delivered via a surrogate, was born on May 9, 2019. But he didn’t have a name until the 17th of May. Kardashian’s fans waited patiently for the name to be announced.

They finally heard the news when Kardashian posted a simple, “Psalm West” along with a retweet from West. The tweet said, “Beautiful Mother’s Day with the arrival of our fourth child” along with “We are blessed beyond measure. We have everything we need.”

On a recent episode of LIVE with Kelly and Ryan, Kardashian confessed that they waited until the very last minute to choose a name. According to the reality star, parents have 10 days after a baby is born to give it an official name to be recorded on the birth certificate. She said the clock was ticking, and they literally had hours before they had to name the baby.

Kardashian said: “In a panic I called every sister and was like, what are you doing?” Kendall Jenner came over and Kylie Jenner joined them on FaceTime. Kim recounted the humorous way they tried to decide.

“We started yelling the name down hallway to see how it would sound” if they had to summon the child. Kardashian said she and Kylie Jenner “were ‘vibing’ on the same name” and eventually they chose Psalm, over the objection of Kendall Jenner.

What was the inspiration behind the name Psalm?

Considering Kardashian and West’s ramped up spiritual journey, naming the new baby Psalm wasn’t that surprising. West has been hosting Sunday Service for a while and has been promoting his new album: Jesus is King. A psalm is defined as “sacred songs used in worship” which is how West’s services are described.

As for the rest of their children, here are the inspirations:

North West was born on June 15, 2013, after a difficult pregnancy for Kardashian. She developed a rare condition called preeclampsia during the pregnancy and placenta accreta after the baby was born. Kris Jenner said: “Kim chose the name because North means the highest power, and their daughter is Kim and Kanye’s highest point together.”

Saint West was born on December 5, 2015. Kardashian suffered with the same conditions during this pregnancy and after delivering the baby, Kardashian had to have surgery. She was told by her doctors never to get pregnant again. They named the baby Saint, which means “holy,” because as West said: “Kim had such a tough time with the pregnancy.”

Chicago West was born via a surrogate on January 15, 2018. They named the baby Chicago because it is the name of West’s hometown. He mentions the city in his music and wrote “Homecoming” and “Hey Mama” as a tribute to the windy city.

Kardashian and West are a power couple in the world of music and fashion. So it is no wonder that they would want powerful names for the children. We think this family is absolutely adorable and can’t wait to see if they add baby number five to the mix.
