Cardi B files for divorce from Offset

In September 2020, it was reported that Cardi had filed for divorce from Offset after three years of marriage. The couple shares a daughter, Kulture Kiari Cephus, who was born in July 2018. The divorce shocked Cardi’s fans, as she and Offset were rumored to be expecting another child soon. However, records from an Atlanta courthouse showed that Cardi, born Belcalis Almanzar, initiated the filing to Offset, born Kiari Cephus.

Before the couple’s split, they spent time between Atlanta and LA. This provided them the opportunity to go out with other couples within their inner circle. Back in April 2019, Quavo shared with Us Weekly that he and his girlfriend, rapper Saweetie, went on double dates with Cardi and Offset, “all the time.” He also said he wanted them to go to a popular amusement park as a foursome.

“We ain’t did it yet, but I think we should go to Six Flags together. It’ll be a fun one,” Quavo said.

How Offset and Quavo are related

While Migos formed as a group in 2008, it didn’t reach massive success until 2017. According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, their star power began to rise after Donald Glover mentioned their song, “Bad and Boujee,” during his Golden Globes Awards acceptance speech. The actor called the group “the Beatles of this generation.” He also thanked them for writing the song during his speech.

“I really want to thank the Migos – not for being in this show but for making ‘Bad and Boujee.’ That’s the best song ever,” Glover said.

Following the shout-out from Glover, the Migos received over a 243 percent increase in their streams. Music lovers soon wanted to know more about the group and their families. It was soon discovered that Quavo, born Quavious Keyate Marshall, is Offset’s cousin. Their third member, Takeoff, is their uncle.

Quavo and Saweetie first began to be romantically linked in August 2018. The pair turned heads after she appeared in his music video for “WORKIN ME.” Before their music video debut, the couple shared with GQ that they had been on each other’s radar months before they met. Quavo said he had seen Saweetie on Instagram and instantly wanted to get her attention.

“I seen her on my Explore page. I was like, ‘Damn! Who is this?'” Quavo recalled. “So I did my research and I DM her. I was like, ‘How she going to call herself icy and she don’t talk to me?’ So I slid in her DM. I told her, ‘You an icy girl, you need a glacier boy.'”

Two years later, the couple is still going strong. Saweetie, born Diamonte Harper, credits Quavo to help her deal with “communication” better and focus on her true self.

Although Cardi is the cousin-in-law of Quavo, she showed that she doesn’t mix business with family back in August 2020. When the video for her song featuring Megan Thee Stallion was released, some fans were outraged by the cameos shown in the video. Singers Normani and Rosalia were among some of the people in the video, but Kylie Jenner’s brief appearance in the visual left fans furious at Cardi.

Several wondered why Cardi didn’t call Saweetie to join the “WAP” video. Neither Cardi nor Saweetie has addressed the reason she didn’t appear, but Saweetie has shared in the past that she doesn’t look for handouts from her famous friends or relatives. The rapper is related to several famous faces like MC Hammer and Gabrielle Union but prefers to become famous on her own merit.
