What Meghan Markle, Prince Harry Fans Are Saying of Queen Elizabeth Removing Their Photo
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have been taking over headlines following their documentary special on television. With the added attention to their personas, there seems to be trouble in Buckingham Palace. Fans are speculating Queen Elizabeth II might not be liking all the press the couple has been receiving. To add fuel to the fire, eagle-eyed followers noticed a picture of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex has been removed.
It was back in 2018 when Hello! magazine first spotted a framed photo of the newlyweds on a table at the palace. Markley and Harry are seen posing together for the picture that was not one that was made public.
However, when the Queen was visited by the High Commissioner for Grenada, Lakisha Grant, the picture was missing and nowhere to be found. This action was a red flag to fans of the royal family that have seen the Dukes of Sussex increasingly distancing themselves.
In the documentary titled Harry & Meghan: An African Journey, Prince Harry acknowledged for the first time that he and his brother had a rift.
“Inevitably stuff happens,” Harry explained. “But we’re brothers, we’ll always be brothers. We’re certainly on different paths at the moment. I’ll always be there for him and as I know, he’ll always be there for me. We don’t see each other as much as we used to because we’re so busy, but I love him dearly.
“The majority of stuff is created out of nothing,” Harry added. “As brothers, we have good days and we have bad days.”
Fans react to the removal of the photo
Fans that follow the drama were quick to take to social media and sound off. Twitter users debated on what it meant for Queen Elizabeth to have removed the photo of Markle and Harry from the table at the royal palace.
“Who knows what’s going on behind palace walls,” a user wrote. “I have no doubt that the Queen can’t be happy with the media antics.”
“Maybe she thought the table looked too cluttered and moved it,” another Twitter user quipped.
“I think Markle took off the picture to blame the queen that she was trying to shade them,” a royal family fan suggested. “I also think [Markle] is trying [to get] Harry against his family more and more.”
“The photo is there, it’s behind the new photo,” another social media user tweeted.
“She rotates those photos often. Not a story,” another fan added.
The consensus amongst the fans is all over the place and there wasn’t an explanation for the picture not being where it was before.
Harry and the media
All the speculation around Harry and Markle has made the British tabloids more aggressive in their attempt to generate stories. Due to the “ruthless” treatment of his wife, the Duke of Sussex took legal action against various publications.
“Unfortunately, my wife has become one of the latest victims of a British tabloid press that wages campaigns against individuals with no thought to the consequences – a ruthless campaign that has escalated over the past year, throughout her pregnancy and while raising our newborn son,” Harry said in the statement.
In the same statement, he recalled how his mother, the late Princess Diana, was treated by the press and he is afraid of the story repeating itself.
“I lost my mother and now I watch my wife falling victim to the same powerful forces,” he continued. “We thank you, the public, for your continued support. It is hugely appreciated. Although it may not seem like it, we really need it.”
There’s no doubt that Prince Harry and Markle are two figures that receive a lot of attention. The good side to the story is that they’re using their fame to bring awareness to causes that need attention.
