Queen Elizabeth Uses This Cocktail To Keep Her Diamonds Sparkling
If there is one thing we know about the British Royal Family, it’s that they love their glittering jewels. Though the women of the Royal Family tend to wear modest makeup and jewelry during their daily lives –when it’s time for a formal event or wedding, all of the stops come out.
For centuries, fans of the British Royal Family have gushed over the diamond tiaras worn at weddings and various events. Additionally, we’ve all been enamored with Queen Elizabeth, the late Princess Diana, Kate Middleton, and Meghan Markle’s breathtaking jewelry. From the engagement rings to the necklaces and the earrings, the ladies’ accessories often bring their outfits to life.
Now, we’ve finally learned the age-old cocktail that the Queen of England uses to keep her many jewels looking picture perfect at all times. The good news is, you can use this recipe to keep your own jewelry collection in tip-top shape.
This is how Queen Elizabeth keeps her diamonds sparkling
In her new book, The Other Side of the Coin: The Queen, the Dresser, and the Wardrobe — Queen Elizabeth’s long-time dresser Angela Kelly revealed, that despite her massive collection of gems — the queen is actually a “very modest lady.” As a result, the Crowned Queen isn’t fussy when it comes to getting her jewels as shiny as possible. Kelly explained that she cleans the queen’s jewelry with a simple mixture of gin and water. That’s it — that’s all.
The queen gave Kelly her permission to write the memoir about the many years that they have spent together. This is the first time a current member of the royal household has been able to give the public this type of insight into Queen Elizabeth’s daily life.
Queen Elizabeth is a bargain shopper
We wouldn’t dare call her cheap –but the queen knows a good deal when she sees it. Kelly explained that she often shops for fabrics for the queen’s stylish suits in the bargain bucket to keep costs as low as possible. Apparently during one shopping experience in Singapore — Kelly got tax back from her purchase. She explained, “The look on the Queen’s face was priceless as I handed her the tax refund.”
Queen Elizabeth’s dresser breaks in all of her shoes first
Before the queen ever steps into a pair of new shoes, Kelly’s role is to wear-in all of her Majesty’s footwear. After all, Queen Elizabeth has to know that she will be comfy when she’s out and about for the day.
Hello reports that in Kelly’s forthcoming memoir, The Other Side of the Coin: The Queen, the Dresser and the Wardrobe, she writes,
As has been reported a lot in the press, a flunky wears in Her Majesty’s shoes to ensure that they are comfortable and that she is always good to go. And yes, I am that flunky. The Queen has very little time to herself and not time to wear in her own shoes, and as we share the same shoe size it makes the most sense this way.
It’s hilarious to know that even a queen can engage in a bit of DIY.
