‘Real Housewives of Atlanta’: Is Nene Leakes Thinking about Leaving Husband Greg Amid His Cancer Battle?

When you get married, you pledge to love someone in sickness and in health. But maybe for real housewife Nene Leakes that particular vow wasn’t as important as the others.

Nene’s husband Gregg’s battle with colon cancer has been widely showcased on this season of The Real Housewives of Atlanta as Nene has stepped up to take care of him. But despite, the closeness that caretaking can bring, the reality star is reportedly still thinking about splitting from Gregg.

Is Nene Leaving Gregg?

On The Real Housewives of Atlanta reunion, Nene revealed that she was still thinking about leaving her husband.

When asked by Andy Cohen if they wanted to save their marriage, Nene and Gregg had different answers.

“I can’t tell you anything that I’m going to do,” she told Cohen. “I feel like I have been pushed up against a wall and I’m coming out as ‘no.’ … Anything is possible, we just have to see.”

Gregg, on the other hand, said that he did want to work on the marriage. The two are seeing a marriage counselor to determine if they can work through their issues and are sleeping in separate rooms.

Gregg’s battle with cancer

Since Gregg’s diagnosis, Nene has been his main caretaker, though she hasn’t exactly been happy about her role and has wondered if maybe his sickness was karma coming back to get him for all that he did to her in the past.

“As a caretaker, you start — it depends on where your relationship is,” she said on an episode of the show. “You look at the person and think about, you know people love to say, ‘Karma is a bitch’ and karma this and karma that. Honest to God, I’m giving y’all the raw, raw, raw. You look at the person and be like, ‘What is that?’ Now, that ain’t right, right? But you’re human.”

“You look at the person and say, ‘You did so many different things to me,” she continued. “‘Is this the payback?'” You hope not … ‘Maybe you’re getting it back from that time you cheated on me.’ You don’t never know. You don’t ever know. But as a caretaker, these are the thoughts that go through your head because the medication got them on a roller coaster ride, and they lash out on you. It’s a lot, it’s a lot.”

How many times have Nene and Gregg broken up?

This isn’t the first time that there has been trouble in paradise for the two. The pair married in 1997 but decided to separate in 2010. A year later, they divorced.

In 2013, they rekindled their romance and remarried. Since then, the two have been on sort of rocky ground.

Nene has even alluded to the fact that Gregg’s sickness might be the reason they have made it this long.

“It would be easy to make a decision about divorcing Gregg if he didn’t have cancer,” she said on the reunion. “I don’t want to live my life unhappy.”
