‘Real Housewives of Orange County’s’ Emily Simpson Speaks Out Against Accusations of Photoshopping Pics
Emily Simpson, who joined Real Housewives of Orange County last season, is asserting herself on social media. People reported that the reality star was accused of photoshopping “50 pounds” off of her photo promoting the show’s 14th season. Simpson promptly took to Instagram, sharing a pic from behind-the-scenes of the photo shoot to prove that no photoshopping or other type of editing took place, and had a few choice words for her accusers.
According to Bravo TV, Simpson joined the reality show in season 13. Simpson has worn many career hats, becoming an attorney and a part-time party planner. As the mom of three children and two stepkids, Simpson’s journey to motherhood wasn’t an easy one.
Romper reported that Simpson suffered from fertility issues, and had a miscarriage in 2011. Her sister Sara stepped in and served as a surrogate for Simpson’s three kids, daughter Annabelle, and twin boys Luke and Keller. Simpson’s two older stepdaughters, Shelby and Chanel, are from her husband Shane’s previous marriage.
Speaking her mind
The reality star chose social media to share her response to those that accused her of editing her promo pics, posting on Instagram, ““For you (expletive) out there who feel the need to make derogatory comments on my figure ‘photoshopped to look like 50 lbs. were taken off’ in reference to the Season 14 #RHOC promo pic…. here’s the raw, untouched photo taken with my iPhone by my makeup artist. Looks exactly the same to me! This dress is a size Medium,” she wrote.
Simpson included a reminder that as a woman, she has both curves and feelings. “I’m not sure if you all know this but I’m a woman, I have curves and they are frikin’ hot and amazing… but I’m also a human and I have feelings too. Why so many of you feel the need to say downright mean, cruel and vicious things… I truly will never understand it,” she wrote. “I hope you find some happiness and peace someday so that attacking someone’s looks and being so vicious doesn’t come so naturally to you.”
She concluded her post with some direct instructions to her critics. “So for all you mean-spirited, cruel and vicious jerks out there… please SWIPE left and kiss my unretouched perfect ASS!” Simpson said on Instagram.
Not the first time
Simpson has defended herself in the past from body-shamers. In February, she posted a ‘thank you’ to her critics, saying their derogatory remarks just motivated her to be her best self. “Oh heeeyyyy Haters! ❤️❤️ Thank you so much for all your comments critiquing my body, size, weight, clothing choices, face, kids, husband etc!” she wrote on Instagram. “EVERY time you leave me a nasty message it just FUELS me to do more, be better, inspire more women, be kinder, and to be even MORE confident in myself, my body, my looks and my life. So thank you from the bottom of my heart for instilling such a passion in me to just work harder and achieve even more! I love you!”
A co-star from the Housewives franchise voiced her support of Simpson. According to Women’s Health, Real Housewives of Dallas star D’Andra Simmons wrote, “Emily, this breaks my heart to read. You and I have had many conversations about the hateful comments. I think you’re absolutely stunning, Smart, kind, and has a huge heart. Do not let these hateful comments tear you down. You’re loved so much.”
It’s a pretty safe bet that Simpson’s fans feel the same way. Season 14 of Bravo TV’s Real Housewives of Orange County begins on August 6.
