The Biggest Reason Everyone Thinks Liam Hemsworth and Miley Cyrus May Be Secretly Married

Rumors have swirled for years that on-again, off-again celebrity couple Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth secretly wed. After getting back together in 2016, the pair hasn’t been able to escape speculation that they have already tied the knot and are trying to keep the news private. In 2018, another report surfaced about a secret wedding ceremony in Hemsworth’s native Australia, and this time, a lot of people are convinced they really got hitched.

Here are the reasons why so many people think the singer and actor said “I do” and what Hemsworth’s older brother, Chris, revealed about the couple’s “official” relationship status.

NW magazine was the first to report on the 2018 rumor that the couple secretly got married. While such reports have been debunked before, this time, the location of the possible ceremony is what has people thinking it might have really happened. A source told the mag that Cyrus and her fiancé tied the knot in Byron Bay, New South Wales. This is the same place where the couple rekindled their romance a few years back after splitting in 2013.

“It’s such a special place for them,” the source said. “It’s where they realized that they couldn’t live without each other and decided to really give their relationship another go.”

There are reports that the pair said their vows over New Year’s and that the timing holds significance for them. The reason is because they reunited while ringing in the New Year in 2015, and by 2016, it was confirmed that their engagement was back on.

Just a few days before the “Malibu” singer and Hemsworth’s allegedly got hitched, sources debunked any wedding plans.”They consider themselves married,” an insider told Us Weekly, adding that the two “still have zero plans of having an actual wedding.”

But could they have just been trying to throw everyone off while really getting ready for a ceremony days later?

Something else that fueled marriage rumors is that both Cyrus and Hemsworth were photographed wearing what appeared to be wedding bands.

Some media outlets published pics of the pair together wearing rings on those fingers. While the pics added to the speculation, there hasn’t been any official confirmation since the couple’s rep has not commented.

They have matching tattoos

There have also been reports that after the alleged wedding, Hemsworth got a tattoo to match Cyrus’ Vegemite tat. The ink is in honor of her man’s favorite hometown treat and is something The Voice coach showed off a while back. In a photo of the two, while they were in Byron Bay, the same tat was spotted just above Hemsworth’s ankle.

But this may not actually be a sign of them tying the knot. The Daily Mail noted that The Hunger Games star has actually had the tattoo since 2016.

Hemsworth’s brother addressed the marriage rumors

Perhaps the biggest reason that everyone thinks they tied the knot is because of how Hemsworth’s brother, Chris, responded when he was asked about the secret wedding rumors. During an interview on SiriusXM’s Sway in the Morning, the Thor star answered questions about the reports by saying, “They’re not officially married.”

Because he used the word “officially,” didn’t say anything about a secret ceremony, and laughed awkwardly after his answer,  many believe that the reports may very well be true.

While he didn’t really confirm or deny any marriage speculation, the elder Hemsworth did confirm that Cyrus is, in fact, a part of their family and attends Hemsworth get-togethers. He added that she refuses his request to perform at the family functions though.

“I always expected her to put on [a] show and bang a few songs out, but she never does,” he said. “I’m insisting constantly. I’m like, ‘When’s the performance coming?’ But nah, she’s just a lot of fun.”

So, there you have it. Whether or not they are married doesn’t really matter in the long run because Cyrus is already considered part of Hemsworth’s family.
