The 1 Reason Why Kourtney Kardashian and Scott Disick Manage To Co-Parent So Well
Kourtney Kardashian and Scott Disick seem to be the modern family we all need. The former couple hasn’t officially been together for several years now, but they’ve managed to create a healthy family environment for themselves despite not being a couple. The two have succeeded at co-parenting and have even spent time together along with Disick’s girlfriend, Sofia Richie. How do they manage to do it so well?
Kardashian and Disick were on and off for nearly 10 years
When Keeping Up With the Kardashians first premiered, Kardashian and Disick had only been dating for less than a year. The two met through a mutual friend back in 2006, and their relationship was fairly toxic. Though they seemed to love each other, Disick had a drinking problem, which often caused problems in their relationship. But after every fight, the two rekindled their romance, and though they never married, they did have three children together. However, the couple officially called it quits back in July 2015 after Scott was photographed partying with an ex-girlfriend on a yacht.
When the couple first split, co-parenting wasn’t easy
Any breakup is hard on two people, but it’s often even harder on the children. When Kardashian and Disick first split up, co-parenting wasn’t easy. However, they knew they needed to work together to do what was best for their children. They tried to get the hang of things, but when Disick introduced their kids to his current girlfriend, Sofia Richie, without Kardashian’s approval, Kardashian was very upset with him; the aftermath of the interaction was documented on the show. Disick felt bad for hurting Kardashian but couldn’t see eye-to-eye with her because she had already introduced her kids to her then-boyfriend, Younes Bendjima.
Therapy has been the biggest reason they co-parent so well
Though co-parenting has posed its own set of challenges, Kardashian and Disick have credited therapy to helping them get the hang of it. Kardashian posted a video to her lifestyle website, Poosh, saying that the two still attend therapy sessions together to help with co-parenting and that it has played a major role in helping them find the best way to make life easier for their kids. “I think other people think if they were in [our] position, they couldn’t do it. And I don’t think a lot of people are probably strong enough to do it,” Disick said in the video.
The two have moved on and now take family vacations together
Though the exes went through major challenges when they first split up, they’ve managed to come together and now seem to be a near-perfect example of modern day co-parenting. Disick is in a serious relationship with Richie, and Kardashian has even spent time with the two of them. Plus, Disick and Kardashian still attend family vacations together to be there to create the best memories for their kids. While co-parenting will always have its ups and downs, the two are making the best of it and seem truly happy for one another.
