‘RHOBH’: Lisa Vanderpump Says She’ll ‘Never Say Never’ to Her Return and No, This Is Not a Drill

After nine seasons of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, original cast member Lisa Vanderpump left the Bravo reality series and revealed she would not be returning for season 10. The 59-year-old will continue to appear on Vanderpump Rules. So rest assured, fans will still get to see the reality star on the NBCUniversal-owned network. But what are the chances Vanderpump will come back to Housewives? Recently, Vanderpump revealed she has spoken to Andy Cohen about her return to RHOBH. And quite frankly, her statements will leave a little glimmer of hope for fans who are already missing her presence on the reality show.

Why did Lisa Vanderpump leave ‘Real Housewives of Beverly Hills’?

Prior to The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills Season 9, Vanderpump lost her brother, Mark Vanderpump. Lisa was still grieving over his death when the season began filming. And in an interview with People on Nov. 13, Vanderpump shared that she shouldn’t have done the season

“I shouldn’t have even committed to do that season,” she said. “If I had had my choice, I would have just wallowed in grief. I wasn’t ready.”

Meanwhile, Vanderpump met with a slew of drama with her RHOBH castmates, now infamously known as Puppy Gate, and the death of her mother, Jean Vanderpump, in June. Lisa decided to leave the Bravo series in July.

“I had a great time on Housewives. But to have negativity during a time in my life when I needed to try to be positive … I decided it was over,” she said.

Vanderpump also explained that the RHOBH drama was different this time around. Then the reality star decided to make a change.

“I’ve been in a position where the whole cast has been against me before. But this time, our foundation was taking a bashing from the women, and it didn’t deserve it,” Vanderpump said. “And suddenly, to start dealing with them all screaming and shouting at me on that first trip [to the Bahamas], I thought, ‘What the hell am I doing?’ And that was really it.”

Despite Vanderpump’s rough exit from RHOBH, it seems the reality star isn’t completely opposed to the possibility of her return. When speaking to Entertainment Tonight at BravoCon on Nov. 16, Vanderpump admitted she doesn’t know what the future lies. So she can’t rule out her RHOBH comeback for the time being.

“You can never say never because I always said I’d never be on a reality show. So I don’t know,” she said.

Vanderpump also revealed she has had discussions about her return to RHOBH with Cohen. And while she acknowledged the possibility in the vague future, the reality star confirmed she has no plans of reinstating her castmate status in RHOBH.

“Andy did come see me at the house the other day and we were having a joke about it,” Vanderpump said. “And he’s always saying to me [and] at some point I just say to him, ‘It’s not even up for discussion right now.'”

With RHOBH Season 10 on the horizon in 2020, fans may be wondering how Vanderpump actually feels about not being part of the new season. But for now, she’s simply looking forward.

“That was then, this is now,” she told Entertainment Tonight. “Of course. It was very difficult for me, but I kind of put that experience in the same compartment in my life that was a very sad time.”

That said, the reality star recognized what she has overcome within the past year.

“The fact that I’ve come out of it and I’m on the other side of that now, even though it was compounded by losing my mother just three, four months ago. It was a difficult time in my life,” she said. “So, I’m actually happy to have moved on and come out the other side because that year was brutal for me. I don’t want to go back there.”

And even without RHOBH, Vanderpump is looking forward to Vanderpump Rules Season 8.

“It’s a great season. I know that for sure, “There’s nothing slow about this season. The new cast have a dynamic between themselves, not necessarily just with the old cast. They have a dynamic that was in existence already. So there’s always a lot going on.”
