‘RHOBH’ Newbie Garcelle Beauvais Claims the Denise Richards’ Drama Was ‘Hard For Me to Watch’
Actress Garcelle Beauvais is set to make her Real Housewives of Beverly Hills debut in season 10, one of the two new castmembers set to fill the void left by the exit of Lisa Vanderpump. Beauvais is not only the first black member of the RHOBH, she is also friends with Denise Richards who has found herself at the center of most of the drama in the upcoming season. The Jamie Foxx Show and NYPD Blue star recently opened up about what it was like to watch her friend go through the wringer and her first season as a Real Housewife.
Garcelle Beauvais joins the ‘Real Housewives of Beverly Hills’
Beauvais, who recently appeared in Spider-Man: Homecoming, is one of two new additions for Season 10. The other is party planner Sutton Stracke. Beauvais says she is excited and proud to be joining the cast of such a beloved show.
“As a working actor who has been in the industry for some time, it’s exhilarating to have the opportunity to delve into a new chapter in the entertainment spectrum,” Garcelle Beauvais said in a statement. “As the first African-American Housewife in the Beverly Hills franchise, I am honored and humbled by this awesome opportunity to exemplify the fact that Black Girl Magic lives and thrives in every zip code!”
Beauvais says that she is bringing “all heart and a little dash of fashion-filled sass” to Beverly Hills, and she wouldn’t have it any other way.
Garcelle Beauvais is joining the show almost a decade after her husband’s cheating scandal that made headlines because an email she sent to his colleagues went viral. Beauvais was married to Mike Nilon, an agent for CAA, and the actress sent an email titled “Tiger Woods/Jesse James/Mike Nilon” to let everyone know that her husband had been cheating on her for five years.
Denise Richards is in for a rough season 10
After a so-so rookie season 9, Richards has found herself directly in the center of all the drama after returning RHOBH Brandi Glanville claimed that they had an affair. Denise Richards has denied the affair, which reportedly went on for months.
The Daily Mail reports that the affair began in early 2019 and lasted roughly half the year. Richards — who married Aaron Phypers on camera in season 9 — reportedly told Glanville that she and Phypers had an open marriage.
“Denise claimed to Brandi that she was in an open marriage, but she wasn’t and this has hurt Denise’s husband Aaron very much,” the insider claimed.
With the release of the season 10 trailer, it is obvious that the Richards/Glanville hook-up drama takes center stage, with Phypers actually getting involved at one point.
In the trailer, Richards screams, ‘I don’t deserve this. That is a huge thing to f*****g say’ before it switches back to Brandi dishing about her to Teddi Mellencamp with Kyle Richards watching on.
In another clip, Teddi is heard saying: ‘What can be that bad?’
Lisa Rinna, Teddi, and Kyle are in an SUV as Lisa exclaims: ‘So they f***d?’; Teddi and Kyle throw their hands up in shock.
How does Garcelle Beauvais feel about the drama?
Along with having one of the best lines in the trailer regarding all the fighting — ‘For me, that is some white people stuff.’ — Beauvais is shocked by all the leaks within the cast and feels sorry for her friend Denise Richards.
“We only texted and she’s like ‘Girl, I have so much to tell you,'” Beauvais told Us Weekly. “So, we’ll catch up and figure it out, but it’s tough when you have everything exposed and you have your side of it and people are seeing their side of it.”
“It shocked me that things are out there already, because I feel like who’s leaking? But, it’s very shocking,” Garcelle Beauvais continued. “Sometimes it was hard for me to be there. Sometimes it was hard for me to watch, if I can say that. Do you know what I mean? Because it’s a new experience for me. I’m an actress and I’m used to that, so real life and seeing people sort of go after one another is a new thing for me in that sense.”
Fans can catch Garcelle Beauvais make her Real Housewives of Beverly Hills debut when season 10 premieres April 15 on Bravo.
