‘RHOBH’: The Surprising Way Gigi and Bella Hadid First Became Famous

Sometimes it seems like Gigi Hadid and Bella Hadid just appeared on earth and were immediately famous. These two supermodels are unbelievably gorgeous. They’ve been named the most beautiful women in the world, scientifically speaking.

In fact, though, these two had a childhood just like the rest of us. Well, not exactly just like the rest of us. Gigi and Bella grew up in Beverly Hills. Their mom, Yolanda Hadid, starred on Bravo’s The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills

Gigi and Bella were already modeling at that point, but they did occasionally appear on the show. It may have helped them along on their path to fame. Take a look at some of the highlights from their time on the show.

Bella Hadid really loved horses

Bella especially loved horses. Like a lot. At one point Yolanda had to cut Bella off. She literally couldn’t buy her any more horses.

To this day, Bella loves riding and horses. She did a Vogue interview in a horse stable. She rode competitively for 10 years, and says that horses are her “best friends.”

Gigi had her obsessions, too. Hers was food. Specifically gruyere cheese. Gigi loves the stuff, and it came up on the show. She was also constantly being told to stick to her diet by her mother.

Yolanda was always worried that Gigi would overindulge and gain weight. Both girls were already modeling at that point, so Yolanda probably had Gigi’s career in mind when she constantly monitored her daughter’s food intake.

There were serious moments too

Gigi and Bella’s time on the show wasn’t all horseback riding and cheese. There were some serious moments. Like the time Yolanda explained the contents of her will to her children, and showed them where to find a copy should anything happen to her.

Then there was the speech Gigi gave about Yolanda’s struggle with Lyme disease. Throughout the show, fans got a taste for how close the Hadid family is. Like Gigi’s speech about her mother, the girls constantly proved how much they care about their family. They even cried when it was time to go off to college.

Gigi and Bella Hadid are still close today

The best thing about the Hadid sisters is how close they are. Gigi is a year older than Bella. With them both being models, one would expect the girls to be more inclined to compete than to get along. Really the opposite is true.

Gigi and Bella lift each other up and highlight each other’s accomplishments. Sure, Bella dyed her hair brown so that people wouldn’t confuse her with her sister, but she also constantly posts about how happy she is to see her sister succeed. When both girls walked Victoria’s Secret runway together, Bella says she cried when she saw Gigi put on her wings.

One of the sweetest Instagram posts of all time has to be what Gigi posted for her sister’s 21st birthday. In her ode to Bella on Instagram, Gigi posted a picture of the first time she met newborn Bella, with the caption: “TOMORROW WILL BE 21 YEARS SINCE I MET MY FOREVER BESTIE @bellahadid❤ (me wearing all red on your actual day of birth is MAJOR and possibly the reason it’s your favorite color ).”

The picture shows 1-year-old Gigi in an all red dress with matching red scrunchies around two pigtails. She’s holding newborn Bella and looking at her with the most adorable expression of sisterly love.

Clips from Gigi and Bella’s time on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills are available online. Fans of these world-famous supermodels should definitely check them out.
