‘RHOC’: Emily Simpson Says the ‘Lemonade Boy’ Comment Was Her Favorite Part of the Episode
During a dramatic exit from Shannon Beador’s party, Braunwyn Windham-Burke asked Beador’s boyfriend’s son to find her husband. Beador had all the kids working at her party and outfitted them in clothing splashed with images of lemons. Windham-Burke was frenzied and got the teen’s attention by calling him “Lemonade Boy” then asked him to find her husband.
Of course, he found the comment to be odd and shared it with the other kids. Beador’s daughter and others seemed to be annoyed by the remark. Simpson appeared on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen which is when she was asked about the moment.
Emily Simpson is going to call her husband ‘Lemonade Boy’
Host Andy Cohen shared a viewer question with Simpson during the WWHL After Show. “Emily, do you think Shannon’s daughter overexaggerated how Braunwyn spoke to John’s son?” Cohen asked.
“Wait is that the Lemonade Boy [comment]?” she laughed. “That’s my favorite part of the whole episode! I call Shane Lemonade Boy now! You put nine lemons in a boy and you get a Lemonade Boy!” Simpson referenced one of Beador’s past tag lines about putting nine lemons in a bowl.
She also tweeted about the moment. “If Life Doesn’t Give You Lemons, Call for the Lemonade Boy!” Other fans found levity in the moment. “Next Halloween I’m gonna be ‘Lemonade Boy,'” one person tweeted.
Another person added, “Lemonade boy………that poor kid is forever gonna be labeled that….in perpetuity…..”
“I would have called that kid lemonade boy, too. Shannon needs to get over that,” a Twitter user wrote.
Not every fan thought the comment was funny
Fans came down both for and against Windham-Burke for making the remark. Some people thought the reference was crass. “[Braunwyn] who do you think you are shouting ‘lemonade boy’. Use your manners! That’s disgusting, you never talk to people or down to people like that!” one person shared on Twitter.
Another person wrote, “Call me “lemonade boy/girl” and you’d immediately get a lemonade to the face.”
Some fans lashed out at Simpson and Gina Kirschenheiter’s attitude toward Windham-Burke, who was only 30 days sober during Beador’s party. “You’ve really changed this season,” a fan wrote on Simpson’s Twitter thread. “You were my favorite last year but not now. All you do is gossip and stir the pot behind everyone’s back. Tonight ‘I shouldn’t judge’ in one breath then in the next breath you’re making fun of Braunwyn having two nannies. I sure hope you stop.”
“Braunwyn is obviously struggling and has openly admitted that to you,” another person added. “But it seems you would rather attempt to join the ‘mean girls’ group than show any compassion. Good luck to you…”
Lemonade Boy wasn’t the only new reference on the show. Kirschenheiter referred to Windham-Burke as a “sloppy chihuahua” and a Twitter follower hoped to find a moment to use that reference someday.
The Real Housewives of Orange County is on Wednesday at 9/8c on Bravo.
