‘RHOC’: Is Vicki Gunvalson Leaving the Show?
It’s a mass exodus. In the past few months, several Real Housewives staples have decided to leave the show. Though this is probably the natural progression of things (no one can be on tv forever) it still hurts. As viewers, we have invested in these women and their storylines, even the ones who we don’t like. So, when a housewife quits, it’s like being left on a cliff hanger.
Real Housewives of Orange County cast member Vicki Gunvalson was not at all pleased with how season 14 of the show went down. In fact, she was so upset that she even threatened to quit.
Vicki Gunvalson lost it at the reunion
Real Housewives reunions are always stressful. It’s the one chance that the women all have to get together and really hash out whatever happened during the course of the season. And to make matters worse, most of them have been watching the season and just waiting on the opportunity to go off on whoever they felt wronged them.
But this time, Gunvalson wasn’t angry at another person during the reunion. She was upset with production.
“I am pissed at you guys right now. I feel like a f—ing fool,” Gunvalson said to producers on the first part of the reunion. “I’m literally going to leave, this is bulls—.”
This season, she had a reduced role on the show, which meant she didn’t get to stay on the couch for the whole reunion.
“Where am I sitting? I want to know,” she asked. “Am I coming and sitting at the end like a little lap dog? I’m not going and sitting on the end.”
As a “friend” of the cast, Gunvalson was not needed for the entire filming process.
“Every hour that I waited while they’re off there filming makes me feel like I’m a has-been,” she said to her fiancé, Steve Lodge. “Let me sit down and get my job over with.”
Her reduced role this season has been hard for Gunvalson to grapple with as she has been on the show since it premiered in 2006. This was the first season that she was not a premiere housewife.
Is Vicki Gunvalson leaving ‘RHOC’
While at the reunion, Gunvalson seemed ready to leave the franchise.
“I started this show 15 years ago,” she said backstage. “You put me on or just let me go. F—ing just let me go if you don’t want me anymore. Let me go in grace!”
Earlier this year at BravoCon, she revealed that she wouldn’t be returning to the show if things didn’t change.
“I’m never coming back reduced again,” she said.
Other housewives who have left the franchise
Gunvalson isn’t the first housewife to be unhappy with the way things are going in her city. Lisa Vanderpump also recently decided to leave The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills after the rest of the cast turned on her last season. After the deaths of her brother and her mother, Vanderpump decided it was best if she left the franchise.
Bethenny Frankel also made her exit from The Real Housewives of New York City this year. Both women were staples in their cities. So, if Gunvalson does decide to leave the show, she won’t be the first OG to do so.
