‘RHOC’: Kelly Dodd Blames Braunwyn Windham-Burke for Getting the Ax From Bravo

Kelly Dodd and Braunwyn Windham-Burke are not returning to The Real Housewives of Orange County when it returns for season 16. Both reality stars were cut from the show as Heather Dubrow announced her return following a 4-season hiatus. Dodd is seemingly not taken her exit well and lashed out at Windham-Burke accusing her of being the reason they were axed from Bravo.

Why did Kelly Dodd blast Braunwyn Windham-Burke?

Dodd and Windham-Burke had conflict on RHOC and it was evident by the jabs they took at each other on social media. The mother of seven had been unfollowed by her co-stars after a turbulent season that saw her coming out of the closet, announce she was divorcing, and her struggles with sobriety. After news that both Dodd and Windham-Burke were off the reality series, Dodd blamed Windham-Burke for their exits.

“This was your fault. We’d still be on the show if you didn’t make things so dark and ugly and brought all that political ‘woke’ BS,” Dodd told Windham-Burke via text, according to a message exchange she shared on Instagram. “Your lies about me, calling me a racist and a homophone were horribly destructive and your phony storylines didn’t help either.”

The message from Dodd to Windham-Burke was after the latter reached out to the former via text hoping she was OK after the news broke. Following Dodd’s reply, Windham-Burke clapped back and added, “Well I’m still sober and still gay, like I said if you ever want to talk I’m here.”

On the caption, Dodd shared that she couldn’t believe Windham-Burke had the “audacity” to message her and made more unhinged claims about her former co-star.

“She said she was fired from the show because we all didn’t like her because she’s gay. Not because she’s a horrible person,” Dodd claimed.

Dodd went on to list all the other reasons Windham-Burke could’ve gotten the ax for and not having to do with her sexuality.

Kelly Dodd had accused Braunwyn Windham-Burke about faking storylines

One of the major storylines that Windham-Burke exposed during RHOC Season 16 was her sobriety. Some of the ladies didn’t believe their co-star and Dodd called her out when she made an appearance on Watch What Happens Live.

“I think her whole sobriety thing is contrived and I think it’s fake,” Dodd said back in December 2020. “I know her well enough that this was a pre-plotted thing that she wanted to do to get her own show. She already had this planned, she wanted to get her own show. Her talent agent told her to stop drinking… it’s all contrived. I don’t believe she is a real alcoholic.”

Kelly Dodd had threatened to quit of Braunwyn Windham-Burke returned

Things were so bad between both RHOC stars that there was an ultimatum given by Dodd. Back in January 2020, Dodd said that if Windham-Burke she would not be able to return to the show and film with her.

“I know I cannot film with Braunwyn, I know for a fact that I cannot film with her, there’s just no way,” Dodd said during an Instagram Live. “If she comes back then I’m out because I know for a fact that I cannot [film with her]. She’s dangerous and calling people racists and homophobic.”

Ultimately, Bravo opted to cut both of them and neither will be returning for the next season of The Real Housewives of Orange County.
