‘RHOC’ Star Kelly Dodd Unbothered by Vicki Gunvalson’s Defamation Lawsuit as Fans Take Sides

Real Housewives of Orange County star Vicki Gunvalson is suing Kelly Dodd for defamation in a stunning new lawsuit — and yet Dodd is reportedly unbothered by the legal trouble. While Gunvalson mounts her case against her co-star, Dodd is living it up with her new man, Rick Leventhal. The verdict is still out on the lawsuit, but RHOC fans are already taking sides as Dodd’s feud with the OG of the OC continues to escalate.

Dodd blows off Gunvalson’s lawsuit in latest ‘RHOC’ drama

Dodd had zero cares in the world as she spent time with Leventhal over the weekend. Taking to social media, Kelly Dodd posted several videos of their romantic weekend in The Hamptons, which included a bike ride around the city and a run-in with a wild animal.

The RHOC star may have appeared frightened when confronted by the animal, but she is not afraid of anything Gunvalson throws her way.

The photos are also proof that Dodd’s romance with Leventhal is still going strong. The two have been dating for a few months and it appears as though Dodd has gotten over her ex-boyfriend, Brian Reagan.

While Dodd is clearly unbothered by her ongoing feud with Gunvalson, her co-star is taking things very seriously.

Gunvalson sues Kelly Dodd in defamation case

According to The Blast, Gunvalson is suing Dodd, NBC Universal, and Bravo Network for libel and defamation that she claims interfered with her business ventures.

In the legal documents, Gunvalson refers to herself as a specialist in retirement planning and the president of a financial and insurance company. She is suing Dodd and the network for things she said on the show that damaged her business image.

This includes statements like, “You prey on older people” and claims of fraudulent behavior, like the time Dodd called Gunvalson a “con woman.” As far as Vicki Gunvalson is concerned, these comments have destroyed her reputation in the retirement community, for which she is seeking damages.

“These statements themselves are express false statements of fact, and they falsely state a knowledge of negative facts about Plaintiff’s work capabilities, ethics, integrity, and professionalism,” Gunvalson’s lawyers argued.

Gunvalson noted that Dodd knew the statements were false but said them anyway. She also highlighted her clean record in the business world and emphasized that she has always maintained a top rating with the Better Business Bureau.

How much is Gunvalson seeking against Dodd?

The court documents do not say how much Gunvalson is looking to win in the lawsuit, but it’s safe to say that it is a pretty significant amount.

Gunvalson claims that she emailed producers about airing Kelly Dodd’s accusations and warned them that it would hurt her businesses. But they ignored the warning and aired the footage on Bravo – which is why they are also included in the suit.

For Gunvalson, she believes the comments had an immediate effect on her career and will continue to do so in the long run. We do not know how much Gunvalson has lost in business, but she is also seeking damages for emotional distress.

Gunvalson previously tried to get a restraining order against Kelly Dodd but a judge recently shot that down. The courts have also allowed Bravo to re-air the footage, which is not helping the issue.

‘RHOC’ fans react to Gunvalson’s lawsuit

While Gunvalson certainly has a devoted fan base, there were quite a few RHOC fans who blasted her on social media for suing Dodd. Many of these viewers were unhappy with Gunvalson’s lawsuit because she has done the exact same thing to her co-stars in the past.

Some fans even pointed out how Gunvalson accused Dodd of using cocaine in last season’s reunion. The accusations, which Kelly Dodd completely denied, sparked a heated feud on Twitter and may have ultimately led to Gunvalson’s demotion this season.

The comments also damaged Dodd’s reputation, yet she did not turn around and sue Gunvalson for the false allegations. There is no telling where the lawsuit is headed, but if Gunvalson wins she could be setting a precedent for reality TV moving forward.

Inside sources also claim that Gunvalson, who was demoted to a friend this season, will not be invited to the reunion if she moves forward with the suit. Given everything that has happened between Dodd and Gunvalson, we hope that doesn’t happen.
